A five-goal barrage from Colorado in the third period was the difference in Game 3 as the Avalanche rode to a 6-2 victory on home ice. Winnipeg has struggled to slow down Colorado’s offence, dropping Games 2 and 3 to trail 2-1 in the series.

The Avalanche opened as -165 favourites to win Game 4, with the total set at 6.5 on the NHL odds.

Jets vs. Avalanche NHL Betting Odds

If there’s one hope for Jets fans in Game 4, it’s their success in Denver during the regular season. Winnipeg won both regular season meetings at Ball Arena, outscoring the Avs 11-2 in the process, including a 7-0 blowout victory on April 13. Prior to the last two games of this series, the Jets won four straight over Colorado.

The Avalanche enter Game 4 as heavy -350 favourites to win the series, while Winnipeg is +280. That Jets’ series price could be great value when you factor in their regular season success against Colorado. The favoured exact series result is an Avs win in six games at +220, followed by an Avs win in five games at +225. The biggest long shot is a Winnipeg victory in six games at +900.

Winnipeg Jets

Tyler Toffoli and Josh Morrissey each scored goals in the second period on Friday as Winnipeg took a 2-1 lead into the final frame, before a five-goal Colorado outburst ended things for the Jets. Winnipeg was heavily outshot 40-24 in the game, including 12-5 in the third period alone. Connor Hellebuyck allowed five goals on 39 shots. The 30-year-old has now surrendered 15 goals through three games of this series, posting an .871 save percentage. It’s a far cry from Hellebuyck’s regular season stats, which will likely earn him the Vezina Trophy.

Discipline has to be the focus for Winnipeg as the Jets gave up two power play goals to Colorado early in the third period to give up the lead. Winnipeg was outscored 5-0 in the final frame, including an empty netter. There’s also concern over defenceman Brenden Dillon, who suffered a deep skate cut on his hand in a scrum after the final whistle. Dillon is averaging over 21 minutes per game in the series and has three assists, but there’s been no update on his status for Game 4.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche’s offence overwhelmed Winnipeg for the second straight game on Friday. Valeri Nichushkin, Artturi Lehkonen and Zach Parise each scored for the second straight game, while Nathan MacKinnon, Ross Colton and Devon Toews also found the back of the net. Trade deadline acquisition Casey Mittelstadt had three assists and continues to thrive in a valuable role as Colorado’s second line centre. It was also a strong performance from defenceman Samuel Girard, who recorded an assist and played just over 21 minutes. Girard had missed the previous four games with concussion issues.

The biggest turnaround for the Avalanche following a high scoring Game 1 is the improved play of Alexandar Georgiev in net. Georgiev gave up seven goals in Game 1 and likely only started Game 2 because rookie backup Justus Annuen was sick. After posting a .696 SV in Game 1, Georgiev had a .933 SV in Game 2 and .917 SV in Game 3.
