Jaromir Jagr Traded to Florida Panthers

The New Jersey Devils have traded right wing Jaromir Jagr to the Florida Panthers, the Devils announced on Thursday, making the Panthers Jagr’s eighth team since being drafted 5th overall in the 1990 draft.

For Jagr, New Jersey will get Florida’s second-round draft pick in 2015 as well as the choice of either Florida or Minnesota’s third-round selection in the 2016 draft.

Jagr, who at 43 is the oldest player in the league, signed with the Devils almost two years ago. He scored 67 points last season, and In 57 games, has 11 goals and 18 assists with a -10 plus/minus mark.

The day before the trade, Jagr told the media that he felt he was only going to get less ice time if we wasn’t traded. “That’s all I really worry about,” he told reporters. “If I stay here and we’re not going to have a chance to make the playoffs, I don’t think I’m going to play at all. And I still like to play.”

Jagr is a five-time Art Ross trophy-winner and 12-time All-Star.
