Golden Knights vs. Canucks Game 6 Prediction, Stanley Cup Playoff Odds
The Vancouver Canucks stole a win to remain alive in their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series with Vegas – and the manner of victory has only made oddsmakers like the Golden Knights more as the teams prepare for Game 6 Thursday night in Edmonton. Vancouver overcame an incredible shot disparity to pull out a 2-1 victory over a Golden Knights team that is an enormous favourite as it takes its second shot at eliminating the Canucks.
Golden Knights vs. Canucks Betting Analysis
Vegas has been a heavy fave in every game in the series so far, but the -235 line ahead of Game 6 is the largest yet. And it hasn’t deterred Sports Interaction bettors from getting on board, with 63 percent siding with the Golden Knights. Vegas still owns an 11-4 wins edge in the head-to-head series with the Canucks, and owns an unfathomable 83-44 advantage in shots on goal in the two games it has lost in the series (more on that in a bit).
The total for Game 6 is set at 6, with the Over and Under carrying identical -110 odds. Three of the first five games in the best-of-seven series have finished below that total, which might be why Sports Interaction respondents are 55 percent in favour of the Under. But the teams combine to average nearly 6.5 goals per game between them, and have combined for an average of 6.2 goals in their last 10 head-to-head meetings.
Vegas Golden Knights
For the second time in the series, the Golden Knights lost a game in which they finished with 40+ shots – and this one was particularly galling, with Vegas finishing with a 43-17 advantage on the shot counter. The Golden Knights are outshooting their opponents by an average of better than 10 shots per game so far in the postseason, which is a major reason why oddsmakers have +190 odds on this series reaching a Game 7.
Vancouver Canucks
The more praise the goaltender receives in the post-game interviews, the luckier the winning team was to pull out the victory. And the Game 5 laurels belonged solely to Thatcher Demko, who made 42 saves in his first career playoff start; Demko was pressed into action after Vancouver starting netminder Jacob Markstrom suffered an undisclosed injury. It isn’t yet clear who will start in goal.
