These two divisional rivals met just five nights ago in Calgary where the Flames hammered the Ducks 6-1. Now, in what will be the second last games of the regular season for both of these teams, they seem to be headed in opposite directions. The Flames have full home ice advantage in the Western conference, while the Ducks are on the verge of a lottery pick in the upcoming draft.
Flames vs Ducks Betting Analysis
The Flames own a 2-1 edge in the regular-season series, but have a horrendous record when playing the Ducks at the Honda Center. Maybe horrendous is too light of a word describing how bad the Flames have been in Anaheim, with only one victory in the last 28 trips to the pond.
There is a lot of evidence that this game could fall to the under. First off, the under is 5-0-2 in the last seven games in Anaheim, and also 7-1 to the under in the last eight games overall.
Something to consider, Flames are 4-0 in their last 4 games as a road favorite of -201 or greater.
Calgary Flames
The Flames were big 7-2 winners over the Kings on Monday night. The two teams were battling at two a piece when the Flames pressed the gas pedal and scored five unanswered goals to secure the win.
What was even more impressive was the fact that they did it missing four regular defenceman and two forwards. Head Coach Bill Peters elected to rest Mark Giordano, TJ Brodie, Travis Hamonic, Noah Hanifin, Mikael Backlund and Matthew Tzachuk but the Flames still produced a strong victory.
The win marks the second time in franchise history that the club hit the 50 win plateau. The only other time they reached that mark was the Stanley Cup winning 1988-89 campaign.
Of note, Johnny Gaudreau was in the line-up netting his team leading 36th goal and 97th point. Don’t be surprised to see the team rest more veteran players for this contest, and one of them could be Johnny hockey.
Anaheim Ducks
The Ducks season may be over but they aren’t playing like it. Entering this game with the Flames the team is 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.
The Ducks are simply playing for pride. They are currently second last place in the Western Conference and will miss the post season for the first time since 2012.
It will be a little bit of a guessing game when it comes to who the Ducks will put on the ice in this one. Expect to see a number of first year players continue to get recalled from San Diego of the AHL.
One player who isn’t a rookie and is expected to play is Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf. Getzlaf has missed four games in a row due to an upper-body injury but skated on a regular line during Tuesday’s practice.
