Calgary Flames vs. Chicago Blackhawks Prediction, NHL Odds
The Flames and Blackhawks are interesting teams. They both have been very up and down, but it’s Chicago that has had the better of the season series. In two games played between these teams, Chicago has won both by scores of 4-0 and 5-2.
Those games were played in November, when the Blackhawks were in great form and the Flames were in brutal form. A lot has happened since then. Calgary would like to show it is a better matchup for Chicago than the prior games indicate.
Flames vs. Blackhawks NHL Betting Odds
The line is nearly a pick ‘em, as Chicago is -115 and Calgary is -105. The Flames are given +225 odds to cover the -1.5 puck line, and the Blackhawks are -275 to cover +1.5. The game total is 6.0, which is also nearly a pick ‘em with the over being -105 and the under being -115.
The Flames have dropped five of their last six games and have struggled on the road. In fact, Calgary has lost four of its last five road games as part of a 7-16-2 road record on the season. Chicago has won five of its last seven games, and although they have not been great at home, Calgary’s poor road form bodes well for the Blackhawks.
Calgary Flames
The Flames ended 2025 with three consecutive wins over the Oilers, Bruins, and Flyers by a combined 10-4. Those are strong opponents, but Calgary is snakebitten thus far in 2026. During their current 1-5-0 run, the Flames have scored 2 or fewer goals in four of those six games.
If the Flames are going to have a chance in this one, they will need to figure out how to generate more offensive production. They also have to exercise some road demons. The Flames’ .320 point percentage away from home is the worst in the NHL among road teams, as is their -34 goal differential. Chicago will be a good litmus test.
Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks struggled without Connor Bedard, but they have turned things around in January with him back in the lineup. In January, the Blackhawks have impressive wins over the Stars, Capitals and Golden Knights. They lost last time out, but they have bounced back from their last two losses with victories, and they are keen to do it again on Thursday.
While it is unlikely that the Blackhawks find their way in a playoff spot come spring, they just will not go away. Their 13 points in their last 10 games are better than that of the four teams ahead of them, including the second wildcard holder. If this team continues to believe and churn out points, these are games they should win.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Flames vs. Blackhawks?
Not much separates these teams in the grand scheme of the season as a whole. However, Chicago’s strong recent form, wins over contending teams and home-ice advantage appear to give the Blackhawks a leg up in this one.
This game represents the fifth and final of a five-game road trip for the Flames, in which they are 1-3-0. Calgary already struggles on the road, now add in the fact that the Flames have one less day of rest and just one game separating them from returning home. This is a bit of a getaway game for Calgary. Chicago has a good chance to win this one by a narrow score of 3-2.
