New Jersey Devils vs. Edmonton Oilers Prediction, NHL Odds

The Oilers skated to a 5-0 victory over the visiting St. Louis Blues on Sunday and have outgunned opponents by an 11-0 combined margin during their current two-game win streak. The Devils opened their current four-game Western swing on Monday night with a 2-1 win in Calgary and have won three of four since halting a dismal 2-7-1 run that has left them well outside the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference.

The Oilers get set to hit the ice as -170 home favourites on Tuesday’s NHL odds. The Devils trail as +140 underdogs on the NHL moneyline, and the total is pegged at 6.0.

Devils vs. Oilers NHL Betting Odds

The Devils skated to a 5-3 win on home in their first meeting of the season with the Oilers, back on October 18, and have now topped Edmonton in three straight clashes while surrendering just five total goals. The Devils have also won two of three in Edmonton, capped by a 3-0 victory in their most recent visit in November 2024. The total has topped 5.0 just twice in the last five dates between these teams. That marks a change after these clubs combined to score 7+ goals in seven of their previous eight clashes. The Oilers’ recent offensive explosion is welcome after the club mustered just 10 total goals in their previous for contests. Overall, Edmonton has won just two of its past six home contests while averaging just three goals per game over that stretch. The Devils have rediscovered a defensive tough while allowing just nine total goals during their current 3-1-0 run. That marks a big turnaround after giving up five goals per game during a preceding 0-4-0 swwon.

New Jersey Devils

While the Devils are enjoying a 3-1-0 run, that success has come by slim margins, with each of their past two wins coming in overtime after blowing early leads. Indeed, the Devils have compiled points despite seeing their offence sputter. New Jersey shooters have scored just six total goals over the past three games while failing to score in the first period in their past two games, and have seen just two of those markers come in regulation at even strength. Top scorers Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt have been silent. Hischier has been held off the scoresheet in two straight outings while Bratt has picked up just one point in the last four games. Jack Hughes has piled up seven assists in six games and turned in three multi-point performances this month but has failed to score in 13 straight contests. Jacob Markstrom has stood tall while getting the call in each of the four games, surrendering more than two goals just three times in 10 starts. But after backstopping the Devils to victory on Monday, he will turn the crease over to Jake Allen, who has been lit up for eight goals on 51 total shots over his past two starts.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers will once again be without Leon Draisaitl, who has stepped away from the team to attend to a family matter in Germany. But the supporting cast has more than picked up the slack during Draisaitl’s absence. For Oilers turned in multi-point performances in Sunday’s shutout win over the Blues, led by Zach Hyman, who contributed two goals and a helper and has now recorded multiple points three times racking up six goals and two assists over his past six games. Vasily Podkolzin remained hot with a goal and an assist while rearguard snapped a seven-game points drought with a pair of assists. Connor McDavid also got in the act with a pair of assists and has tallied seven helpers in five games but no goals over that stretch.
