An 8-1 drubbing of Germany over the weekend moved the Canadian side into third place in the group, and a win over the Danes would provide some added confidence heading into Tuesday’s meeting with the United States.

World Hockey Championship Odds and Betting Analysis

To no one’s surprise, Denmark isn’t being given much of a chance in this one, installed at +1700 to pull off the upset victory over a Canadian side that has reeled off four consecutive victories since losing its tournament opener to group-leading Finland. The handicap might be a more prudent play for those who favour the Canadians in this one; taking Canada -3.5 pays out at a reasonable -162, while the Denmark +3.5 option is set at +135.

The totals play will also be an interesting one, given that most of the scoring in this one will likely be done by the favoured team. Canada racked up a tournament high in goals last time out against Germany, and is no stranger to rolling up the goal total against the Danes, having beaten them 7-1 at last year’s World Hockey Championship. The O6.5 for Monday’s matchup is priced at -125, while the U6.5 is set at +100.

Team Canada

If you’re considering a player prop play for Monday’s game, you could do worse than try to ride Anthony Mantha’s hot streak. The Detroit Red Wings forward leads the tournament in goals with seven, while topping the team in points (and ranking tied for fourth in the entire tournament) with 11. Mark Stone might also make for a strong player goal prop option; his hat trick helped sink the German, and he ranks second on the team with five goals through five games.

Team Denmark

Goal prevention has been a bit of a problem for the Danes, who rank 10th in the tournament with an .882 save percentage and have surrendered five power-play goals on 20 chances through their first five games. Forward Poulsen Morton is the only player on the team that has scored more than two goals, though Washington Capitals forward Lars Eller has been a solid contributor with two goals and three assists through three games.
