The Carolina Hurricanes lost for the first time on home ice in this post season, and it was a costly one, as the team is now on the brink of elimination entering game four. Not many people predicted the Hurricanes being part of the Eastern Conference finals, but after sweeping the Islanders in four-straight games, the doubters were changing their minds. But that doubt is back in what could be their last game of the season.

Bruins vs Hurricanes Stanley Cup Betting Analysis

The Bruins took two of three games from the Hurricanes during the regular season. Two out of the three games were decided by one game (including an overtime game) the other, a two-goal game.

Dating back to the 2016 season, the Hurricanes are 3-3 on home ice against the Bruins, while the home team in this head-to-head series is 9-3 in the last 12 games.

Also, the over has been in play when these two teams get together going 8-2-1 in the last 11 meetings, including two of the three games in this series. Lifetime, the over is 23-10-5 in the last 38 games in Carolina.

Boston Bruins

The Bruins are sitting comfortably in the driver’s seat in this series thanks to the goaltending of Tuukka Rask. Rask was once again the game’s first star making 35 saves to up his record to 11-5 in the post season with a save percentage of .939. Rask enters this game on a six-game winning streak looking to close it out early and head to the Stanley Cup final. It’s the first time a Bruins goaltender has won six straight games since Reggie Lemelin did it in 1988. Gerry Cheevers holds the team record at 10 games in 1970.

Brad Marchand scored his 6th goal of the post season, and when he does, it’s almost a guaranteed win for the Bruins. The B’s are now 22 and 1 when Marchand scores a goal, truly remarkable.

Carolina Hurricanes

Pull out the cliché machine and use all of them, this is it for the Hurricanes in game four. Yes, they can take out a number of positives from their game three loss, but a loss is a loss, and they are in trouble.

It appears the team’s power-play struggles have finally come back to bite them, as the team went 0-for-5 in game three, including 0-for-4 in the first period alone. They are now a dismal 5-for-50 with the man advantage this post season, for a 10 percent efficiency.

Speaking off the first period, the Hurricanes dominated it, outshooting the Bruins 20-6, and out-chancing them 33-9 (shot attempts), but skated out of the first period with a 0-0 tie. This is good evidence that the opposition goaltender has been the story in this series to date.
