Blues vs. Stars Game 6 Prediction: NHL Playoffs Betting Odds

Tensions did not boil over from game four to five like many people expected. In game five the two teams combined for just 12 minutes in penalties, all minor infractions. Now, the series moves back to the Lone Star State, where the Stars can punch their ticket to the Western Conference finals for the first time since the 2007-08 season.

Blues vs Stars Stanley Cup Betting Analysis

The Stars enter this game on a two-game winning streak against the Blues, and dating back to the regular season have taken seven of the last 10 games against them.

The Blues are 2-5 in the last seven games in Dallas, but the road team in this head-to-head matchup is 5-2 in the last seven games overall.

Traditionally, these two teams have been under teams (the total) heads up against each other, but in the last five games, the over is 3-1-1.

St. Louis Blues

For the first time in this post season the St. Louis Blues are on the brink of elimination, but there is some good news. The Blues will be on the road in game six in Dallas, and so far this post season the team is an impressive 4-1 on road ice. However, that single loss occurred the last time these two teams played a game in Dallas (game four).

Captain Alex Pietrangelo has registered at least a point in four of his last six games. He is fourth on the franchise list for career post season points by a defenceman with 35. The Blues defence, as a core, entered the game with 26 points combined in the post season, good enough for third among playoff teams.

Of note, defenceman Joel Edmundson played in game five after being a healthy scratch in games three and four. He replaced Robert Bortuzzo. No word at press time which defenceman will see the ice in game six. Also, Brayden Schenn won a remarkable 63.2 percent of his face-offs in game five.

Dallas Stars

Ben Bishop was without a doubt the game’s first star in the previous win. Bishop kicked out 38 shots for a game save percentage of .974. The only goal he allowed was off of a puck handling mistake as Jaden Schwartz pounced on a loose puck and scored the Blues only tally of the game.

Jason Spezza appears to have found the fountain of youth as he extended with post season point scoring streak to three games. He has also scored in back to back games entering this game. That’s something he’s only done that once this season, when he scored goals in back to back games on October 19 and 23.

The Stars penalty kill was very good in game five, going a perfect five-for-five, and according to the NHL’s website, only allowed five shots against in the five opportunities.
