Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks

Date: Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, 4:25 PM ET
Location: Lambeau Field – Green Bay, Wisconsin

Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Packers opened as 3-point favourites (-115) on the Sports Interaction NFL odds board. Green Bay looks to build off its spectacular second half to last season when the team won eight games in a row before falling to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Championship Game.

The Packers went 5-1 against the spread in their final six games last season and are 8-1-1 against the number in their last 10 home openers. The Seahawks went 3-4-1 straight up on the road last season and are 0-4 in their last four away games. Seattle was an underdog just five times over the last three regular seasons and the club went 3-1-1 in those contests.

Seattle Seahawks

These aren’t the rumble-and-tumble Seahawks of yesteryear. Quarterback Russell Wilson led the Seahawks to the 10th best passing attack in the league a season ago and fourth highest-scoring rate per game.

The team isn’t hurting on the defensive side of the ball either – especially after picking up former Pro Bowl defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. Nine of Seattle’s projected 11 starters on defense are former Pro Bowlers.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers, who usually aren’t players in the free agent market, signed tight end Martellus Bennett in the offseason. Bennett is a skilled pass-catching threat and should be in for a big year with two-time league MVP Aaron Rodgers slinging from the pocket.

The upcoming campaign will be Rodgers’ 10th year as the starting QB in Green Bay. He’s put up amazing numbers and won a Super Bowl in the 2010 campaign, but at age 33 you have to wonder how much he has left in the tank.

The Packers will need their defence to carry to pick up the slack – particularly in the secondary – if they hope to make another Super Bowl run.
