Ravens vs. Cowboys Point Spread: NFL Pre-Season Week 2 Odds, Prediction
The Ravens opened their preseason schedule with last week’s 24-16 win over Indianapolis but are winless in three preseason road contests since 2022. The Cowboys return home on the rebound after dropping a 31-21 decision to the Los Angeles Rams last weekend, and have now fallen to defeat both straight up and against the spread in five of their past seven preseason contests.
The Ravens arrive in Dallas perched as slim 1.5-point road favourites on the NFL preseason Week 2 odds. The Cowboys lag as a +110 bet on the NFL moneyline and the total is listed at 36.5.
NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis
Saturday night’s matchup marks just the second all-time meeting between these squads in NFL preseason action. The Ravens claimed a 37-30 victory when they made an August visit to Dallas back in 2014, and a subsequent NFL preseason matchup was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19.
While the Ravens posted a solid win over the Colts last weekend, both these squads have struggled to produce consistent results in recent NFL preseason action. Once a dominant force in August, the Ravens have scored an average of just 17.5 points during their current 2-4 preseason run and have covered just once in their past eight August dates. Baltimore is also winless ATS in each of their past four preseason outings as road chalk.
The Cowboys have also been an annual preseason disaster, going just 6-16 SU in their past 22, but have won outright in three of their past five preseason games as home underdogs.
Baltimore Ravens
Saturday night’s contest will be a homecoming of sorts for Cooper Rush. The veteran pivot spent the first seven years of his NFL career with the Cowboys, and stepped into the starter’s role in the wake of Dak Prescott’s season-ending injury last year, tossing for 1,792 yards and 12 touchdowns against just four picks in nine appearances after taking over the offence. With Devin Leary struggling under centre in last week’s win and Rush expected to claim the backup job behind Lamar Jackson this season, so expect the 31-year-old to take most of the snaps on Saturday.
While the Ravens are expected to improve on last week’s dismal offensive effort that produced just 59 total passing yards, concerns have emerged on defence. Rookie cornerbacks Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam have both been sidelined by season-ending injuries, opening the door for a fierce competition among such players as Keyon Martin, Marquise Robinson, and recently acquired M.J. Devonshire Jr.
Dallas Cowboys
While the Cowboys stumbled out of the gate in last week’s preseason opener in LA, Joe Milton III steadily emerged as one of the team’s bright lights in a losing cause. Acquired from the New England Patriots in an offseason deal, the former Tennessee Volunteers star quarterback finished the contest with 143 yards on 17-for-29 passing, tossing for one TD and one pick. However, Milton suffering a bruised elbow late in last week’s loss.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer may limit Milton’s playing time in favour of 20-year-old journeyman Will Grier, who has not seen any meaningful playing time since turning in an impressive performance in the Cowboys’ 31-16 preseason win over Las Vegas two years ago in which he tossed for 306 yards and two touchdowns while also running for two scores.
Whoever is under centre on Saturday night will not enjoy the presence of prized rookie Jaydon Blue. Selected by Dallas in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft after racking up 1,098 total yards and 14 total touchdowns in his final campaign with the Texas Longhorns, Blue is still on the mend from a foot injury suffered earlier in the camp.
