Aaron Rodgers exited Green Bay’s loss at Philadelphia last weekend with a rib injury but is planning to start against the Bears. Chicago didn’t have Justin Fields (shoulder) last weekend at New York, and his status is still to be determined. Trevor Siemian started in place of Fields last weekend.

These clubs now make up the bottom half of the NFC North, with Green Bay at 4-8 and Chicago 3-9. Green Bay’s now lost two straight after their 40-33 loss to the Eagles last weekend, while a 31-10 defeat to the Jets extended Chicago’s losing streak to five.

Kickoff at NRG Stadium goes at 1 p.m. EST, with Green Bay a four-point favourite on the road and the total at 47 on the NFL odds.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

As Rodgers has said himself, Green Bay owns Chicago. The Packers have won and covered in seven straight meetings with the Bears and are 11-1 straight up in their last 12 visits to Chicago. This includes a 27-10 Packers victory back in Week 2 that saw Chicago put up under 230 yards of offence.

But Green Bay’s had big struggles on the road with this season with a single victory in six road outings. The Packers have also covered in only two of their last nine games overall, but Chicago is just 1-4 ATS in their last five showings too.

Green Bay Packers

Rodgers sat out practice Wednesday with his injuries (ribs and thumb) but he and head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed that Rodgers, the back-to-back MVP, is expected to play at Chicago. If Rodgers can’t go, it’d be second-year pivot Jordan Love getting his second career start. Love came in relief of Rodgers last weekend and completed six of nine passes for 113 yards including a 62-yard score to rookie Christian Watson.

The 33-point performance is a season high for Green Bay this season. It just so happens that their defence gave up a season-worst 40 points and is now allowing 443 yard per outing over their past three games. As one star quarterback in green and yellow might say, it’s not his fault the Packers are losing games.

Chicago Bears

Fields got some action at the Bears practice Wednesday, being limited as a limited participant. Siemian, Chicago’s Week 12 starter in place of Fields, did not practice with an oblique injury. If both can’t go, the infamous Nathan Peterman would be in line for his first start since Week 9 of 2018. Chicago also lost veteran safety Eddie Jackson last weekend to a season-ending foot injury.

Without Fields in the lineup the Bears went back to under 300 yards of offence, generating 292 versus New York. Chicago also scored all 10 of their points in the first half, and totalled 129 rushing yards compared to their league-best 192 average. In short, they need Fields back.
