Thursday Night Football
Point spread: Giants -4 / Updated odds move Giants to -3.5
Over/under : 44
If you haven’t noticed already, Washington looks a lot better since taking the ball from RGIII and burying him on the depth chart. With Kirk Cousin’s stabilizing a run-heavy attack, Washington is pounding the rock and playing good defence. Meanwhile, the Giants could be the worst-coached team in the NFL at this point.
Pick against the spread: Washington +4

Point spread: Cowboys -1 / Updated odds move Falcons -1.5
Over/under: 44.5 / Updated total moves to 45
The Dallas Cowboys shouldn’t be counted out with Tony Romo and Dez Bryant injured on the sideline. Dallas’ defence is strong enough to keep them in the mix, but expect this team to take a while to get everything figured out. The Falcons poised to win now.
Pick against the spread: Falcons +1
Point spread: Ravens -3 Odds move to Baltimore -2.5
The Bengals are a sneaky balanced team this year with some great receiving options for Andy Dalton, an excellent ground attack, and a nasty defence. The 0-2 Ravens will be desperate, but this will be a tough test at home.
Pick against the spread: Bengals +3
Point spread: Colts -3
Last week’s terrible outing from the Colts might get people fired unless they bounce back here. While, Indy may not have lived up to expectations against two tough defences to start the year, this is a very winnable road game.
Pick against the spread: Colts -3
Point spread: Patriots -13.5
Over/under: 47.5 Over/under drops to 47
Our first big spread of the season might get a lot bigger as the week progresses. The Patriots are out to put 50 points on the board every week and even though the Jags are strong defensively, getting this number under two touchdowns might be a bargain by Sunday.
Pick against the spread: Patriots -13.5
Point spread: Panthers -3 Odds more to Panthers -3.5
The Panthers’ offence doesn’t look pretty at times, with Cam Newton running for his life and receivers dropping passes all over the place. That doesn’t mean it isn’t relatively effective. The Panthers find a way to move the chains – something we haven’t seen from the Saints yet.
Pick against the spread: Panthers -3
Point spread: Browns -4 Odds move to Browns -3.5
Do you believe in Johnny Football yet? No? Me neither, but might actually turn out to be a fun game. Oakland has a few young playmakers and is coming off a big win over Baltimore. That win says a lot more to me than Cleveland’s victory over Tennessee.
Pick against the spread: Raiders +4
Point spread: Jets -2.5 / Update Jets move to -3
Just what the sinking Philadelphia Eagles needed – a road game against a Jets defence which has allowed only 17 points in two weeks.
Pick against the spread: Jets -2.5
Point spread: Pick ‘em Odds move to Steelers -1 / Odds move Steelers to -1.5
This Steelers offence is flat-out scary, but faces a tough Rams defence here. Tough call but I’ll go with Pittsburgh’s big-play guys to get the better of the Rams.
Pick against the spread: Steelers
Point spread: Vikings -2.5
Adrian Peterson gashed the Detroit Lions for 134 yards on the ground and looks to be finding his rhythm already. He should be a major factor in this one as the Vikings pound the rock and try to keep the ball away from Philip Rivers and San Diego’s attack.
Pick against the spread: Vikings -2.5
Point spread: Texans -6.5 Odds move to Texans -7 / Odds move Texans -6.5
The big question with this one is how Jameis Winston handles J.J. Watt and Jadeveon Clowney. If he’s able to get some time, he can find holes in Houston’s secondary, but that’s a big if. Watt and Clowney were held in check for the most part against Carolina so they’ll have some new wrinkles for the rookie in Week 3.
Pick against the spread: Texans -6.5
Point spread: Cardinals -6 Odds move to Cardinals -6.5
If Carlos Hyde sits with concussion symptoms, the 49ers are in big trouble. Arizona looks like one of the best teams in the NFC from top to bottom. The Cards lead the NFL with 79 points through two games and I’m not sure the 49ers can generate that kind of offence to hang around.
Pick against the spread: Cardinals -6
Point spread: Dolphins -3
Dolphins supporters must have some major concerns with the club’s defence after watching Jacksonville drive down the field for a winning field goal in Week 2. Buffalo will come in fuming after losing to the Patriots again.
Pick against the spread: Bills +3
Point spread: Seahawks -14.5
Kam Chancellor makes his return to the Seahawks just in time to lay a whooping on the beat-up Bears. This is the matchup Seattle needs to build some momentum, but a 14.5 number is way too steep for a team with issues of its own this early in the season.
Pick against the spread: Bears +14.5
Point spread: Broncos -3
Here’s the deal with this one: If Peyton Manning wins the power struggle with the ultra-stubborn Gary Kubiak and guides this offence primarily from the shotgun, Denver covers this number easily. If Kubiak insists on five-step drops and deep handoffs that get his running backs blown up in the backfield, Detroit could win this going away. Take your pick.
Pick against the spread: Broncos -3
Monday Night Football
Point spread: Packers -7
The Packers are going to put a lot of points on a lot of teams this year and definitely look the part as a Super Bowl favourite. This isn’t an easy matchup though. The Chiefs had Manning on the Broncos on the ropes before throwing the game away in Week 2 and are a better team than they showed there. Too many points.
Pick against the point spread: Chiefs +7
