NFL Preview: Steelers Have Nothing to Lose Against Titans
All logic and reason says the Steelers shouldn’t have a hope against the Titans on Sunday. That’s exactly why Al Dannity says you write off Pittsburgh at your peril.
The kid didn’t stink
Nobody is anointing Dennis Dixon as a future NFL MVP after his performance against Atlanta but the former Oregon Duck showed he is a capable back-up who won’t make too many mistakes. His 18 of 26 with 236 yards and 1 interception showed NFL betting fans that he is capable of managing a game and not endangering this Pittsburgh team with his play. Ask Cleveland or Carolina if they’d like a quarterback that can do that. The challenge for Dixon and the Steelers offense this week will be doing enough to keep up with Tennessee.
We saw on Sunday that Troy Polamalu is vital to any success in Pittsburgh and he will need to be at his best against the Titans. Chris Johnson gashed the Raiders for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground while Vince Young went 13 of 17 for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns. Admittedly this was against the Raiders but the ease with which Tennessee’s offense succeeded should sound some alarm bells in Pittsburgh.

I like Pittsburgh to hang with the Titans for the first three quarters but sooner or later Johnson will find a way to make plays. That should be enough for Tennessee to pick up the win at home as a -5.5 favorite with Sports Interaction.
Jags out of luck
Jacksonville plays its second AFC West opponent in as many weeks on Sunday when the Jaguars head to San Diego for a date with the Chargers. The Bolts were sloppy on offense in a 21-14 loss to the Chiefs but the defense impressed. This is bad news for David Garrard and the Jacksonville offense. Against Denver, Garrard was efficient and made some big plays but he will be up against much tougher defenders in San Diego.
The Chargers were by far the better team offensively against Kansas City but made too many errors to win the game. They should be able to remedy that during the week and enter Sunday’s home game in better shape. Jacksonville will provide a solid test but little else on the road. I like San Diego to record its first win of the year and get back in the hunt in the AFC West.
