NFL Point Spreads Week 3: Best Picks Against the Spread

Here’s a quick look at all the Week 3 matchups with Sports Interaction’s NFL odds board. Games Sunday unless noted.

NFL Week 3 Odds

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars, Thursday

Both these teams lost close games Sunday, with Tennessee falling in its home opener against the Colts, and Jacksonville attempting a late 2-point conversion in Houston instead of going for the tying extra point. The 2-point run by Leonard Fournette was stopped just short. The Titans swept the Jaguars last year, winning ugly 9-6 in Jacksonville. Read our full preview of this game here.

Point spread: Titans -1.5

Pick ATS: Jacksonville

Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills

Buffalo might prefer not to play at home this week but instead at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey as the Bills played the first two weeks there and beat the Jets and Giants. They at least get state of New York bragging rights now. Cincinnati played really well Week 1 but lost in Seattle. The Bengals played much worse Sunday in getting pounded at home by the 49ers. It’s possible that No. 1 receiver AJ Green will return from a foot injury this week but not likely. Click here for a complete preview of this game.

Point spread: Bills -6

Pick ATS: Buffalo

Miami Dolphins at Dallas Cowboys

The Dolphins might be the worst NFL team seen in years as they have lost their first two games to Baltimore and New England by a combined score of 112-10. Ryan Fitzpatrick remains the starting quarterback for now. Dallas looks like a legit NFC contender with double-digit wins over the Giants and Washington. Dak Prescott is playing at an MVP level as he awaits a new contract.

Point spread: Cowboys -21

Pick ATS: Miami

Denver Broncos at Green Bay Packers

New Broncos head coach Vic Fangio will have an inkling on how to defend Aaron Rodgers from his previous role as Chicago’s defensive coordinator – although Green Bay does have a new offence in 2019. Fangio lost to the Bears on Sunday on a last-second field goal. The Packers beat the Vikings 21-16 to move into sole possession of first in the NFC North.

Point spread: Packers -8

Pick ATS: Denver

Atlanta Falcons at Indianapolis Colts

It’s the first time the Colts will play in front of their home fans in a game that counted since quarterback Andrew Luck retired. Indy was an upset winner in Tennessee on Sunday. Atlanta was a slight home dog Sunday night vs. the Eagles but rallied for a 24-20 win. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones connected on the winning 54-yard score with just over two minutes left. Click here for a full preview of this matchup.

Point spread: Colts -3

Pick ATS: Indianapolis

Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs

Two exciting young quarterbacks in Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson and Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes. They are similar yet very different and both off to huge starts. It’s also Kansas City’s first home game that counts since losing last season’s AFC title tilt in overtime to the New England Patriots. K.C. hosted Baltimore in Week 14 last year and the Chiefs won 27-24 in OT. Jackson and Mahomes each had two TD passes. It was the Ravens’ first-ever loss at Arrowhead Stadium. Here’s our full preview of Ravens at Chiefs.

Point spread: Chiefs -6.5

Pick ATS: Kansas City

Derek Carr Oakland Raiders quarterback

Oakland Raiders at Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota was a 21-16 loser in Green Bay on Sunday despite 154 yards rushing and a touchdown from Dalvin Cook. QB Kirk Cousins was not good, completing just 14 of 32 with two interceptions. Oakland dropped to 1-1 with a 28-10 home loss to Kansas City. Derek Carr did become the franchise’s all-time passing yardage leader. This is the Raiders’ first road game.

Point spread: Vikings -8

Pick ATS: Minnesota

New York Jets at New England Patriots

New York on a short week after hosting Cleveland on Monday and the Jets will again be without starting quarterback Sam Darnold as he was diagnosed with mono and didn’t play vs. the Browns. As if the Patriots needed more help. They destroyed the Dolphins 43-0 on Sunday as Antonio Brown caught a TD pass in his New England debut. He could be put on the commissioner’s exempt list this week, though, which would mean he sits out as long as he’s on it.

Point spread: Pats -17.5

Pick ATS: New York

Detroit Lions at Philadelphia Eagles

Detroit won its home opener on Sunday, 13-10 over the Chargers. Matthew Stafford hit Kenny Golladay on the winning 31-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter. Philadelphia blew a late lead in Atlanta on Sunday night and lost 24-20. Defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan broke his foot, and receivers Alshon Jeffery (calf) and DeSean Jackson (groin) both left.

Point spread: Eagles -7

Pick ATS: Philadelphia

Cam Newton quarterback of Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals

Another matchup of former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterbacks who went No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft. Carolina’s Cam Newton was in one such game last Thursday vs. Tampa Bay and Jameis Winston, and the Panthers lost 20-14 to fall to 0-2. Arizona’s Kyler Murray faced another Heisman winner on Sunday in Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (he didn’t go No. 1 overall) and the Cards were 23-17 losers but covered a big number. Murray threw for 349 yards but no TDs.

Point spread: Panthers -2.5

Pick ATS: Carolina

New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Both quarterbacks in this game were No. 1 overall draft picks in the Giants’ Eli Manning and Bucs’ Jameis Winston. Both are very interception-prone and probably in their final seasons with their current teams. Somewhat of a break here for the Giants with the 4:05 p.m. ET start time instead of 1 p.m. ET in that Florida heat and humidity.

Point spread: Bucs -6.5

Pick ATS: Tampa Bay

Houston Texans at Los Angeles Chargers

Both clubs have had issues with their starting running backs this year with Houston losing Lamar Miller to a season-ending injury in the pre-season and the Chargers still waiting on holdout Melvin Gordon. There was scuttlebutt that Houston was interested in trading for Gordon when Miller went down.

Point spread: Chargers -3.5

Pick ATS: Houston

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo

Pittsburgh Steelers at San Francisco 49ers

It’s the Niners’ home opener after winning the first two weeks in Tampa Bay and Cincinnati — San Francisco had lost eight straight road games entering the season. Jimmy Garoppolo threw three TD passes on Sunday. The Steelers are an absolute mess at 0-2. Ben Roethlisberger hurt his elbow and James Conner his knee in Sunday’s loss to the Seahawks. Not clear yet how much time either will miss but it sure didn’t look good for Big Ben (early reports: done for season.) Young Mason Rudolph would start.

Point spread: TBA (on Big Ben)

Pick ATS: TBA

New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks

The Saints have had a really tough opening schedule, winning Week 1 vs. Houston and losing Sunday at the Rams and now facing another 2018 playoff team in the Seahawks. To make matters worse, New Orleans lost future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees for about six weeks to a torn thumb ligament. Teddy Bridgewater takes over under centre. Seattle was an upset winner in Pittsburgh on Sunday to improve to 2-0.

Point spread: Seahawks -5.5

Pick ATS: Seattle

Los Angeles Rams at Cleveland Browns

The Sunday night game and not impossible it’s a Super Bowl preview. Short week for the Browns, who were at the Jets on Monday night. It’s only the second time in franchise history they play back-to-back regular-season prime-time games. The Rams beat the Saints on Sunday in an NFC title game rematch.

Point spread: Rams -3 (could change depending on Monday night)

Pick ATS: Los Angeles

Chicago Bears at Washington Redskins, Monday

Washington has looked like possibly the NFC’s worst team at 0-2 and it’s probably only a matter of time before Coach Jay Gruden is fired. Chicago avoided a 0-2 start with a very fortunate 16-14 win in Denver on Sunday on a 53-yard field goal as time expired. Here’s our full preview of the Monday Night Football game between the Bears and the Redskins.

Point spread: Bears -3.5

Pick ATS: Chicago
