When the New Orleans Saints visiting the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football, bettors are being forced to choose between the lesser of two evils.

On one sideline, you have the Saints, who have four of their last five both straight up and against the spread but remain in the playoff hunt in the pathetic NFC South. On the other, you have the Chicago Bears. They’re falling apart at the seams too, having lost five of eight.

Sports Interaction NFL odds

The Bears opened as 3-point home underdogs and are holding there despite the fact that Sports Interaction is seeing 68 percent of its action coming in on the Saints. As of Thursday afternoon, the Bears were at +3 (-125) but there is a chance this line moves to 3.5 before kickoff.

“We’re seeing a ton of Saints action and even though we’d like to stay at +3, we’ll just have to see what happens over the next few hours,” A Sports Interaction oddsmaker said. “We were at -120 earlier this morning but now we’re up to -125. We would much rather adjust the price than the number.”

The problem there is bettors aren’t exactly lining up to get their Bears wagers in these days. Injuries have had Chicago relying on backups all over the field for a good part of the season and now that a big playmaker like Brandon Marshall is out for the season, the Bears have become an afterthought as far as bettors are concerned.

“The betting public doesn’t have a lot of faith in the Bears right now,” Sports Interaction’s oddsmaker said. “They’re banged up and it looks as though there are some major issues both on the field and in the locker room. It’s hard to know what type of effort you can expect from this team as it plays out the rest of the schedule.”

The total for tonight’s game is holding at 54 points.
