As Week 2 of the new NFL season wraps up tonight with Monday Night Football, we have a matchup between two teams looking like polar opposites as they begin to set the tone for their seasons. The Lions had a great start, rolling over the Arizona Cardinals 35-23 in Week 1. The Giants looked rough and confused against the Cowboys, a game in which they only managed to get three points on the board.

Betting Analysis and Point Spread
Considering that Odell Beckham Jr is, as of this writing, still questionable for play tonight, the Giants being favored here is a bit of a surprise. Sure, New York is playing on their field, but if they look even remotely like they did in Week 1, Matt Stafford and crew should have no problem solving the Giants.
The total has gone over in four of Detroit’s last five games against New York when they were the visitors. If the Lions’ defense looks anything like it did last week against the Cardinals, expect them to cover that +3 spread easily.
New York Giants
The Giants are hosting the Lions at home tonight, but they’ll need more than familiar ground to get something going on the chance the Odell Beckham is out again. They’ll definitely be doing everything in their limited offensive power to hit the reset button, but against a Lions team that looked sharp and organized last week, they’ll have to make some big changes.
The problem the Giants faced in Week one was that they simply couldn’t find any rhythm offensively. Defensively they were better and held the Cowboys to just one touchdown, but the Lion’s defense they’ll face tonight has been just as good. They managed a single field goal in that game, about halfway through the third, but too many incomplete passes and a big Dallas interception held them to that dismal score.
If Odell Beckham is cleared to play, it might shake the Giants into life, so keep an eye on that spread if he gets the call.
Mr. Monster Contract, aka Matthew Stafford, put on a great show for Lions fans last week, and even though he and his team are considered underdogs tonight when they visit the Giants at home, another Week 1-style performance will make them very hard to shut down. Last week against the Cardinals, he looked shaky in the first quarter and threw a pick-six, only to turn the game completely around, throwing for 292 yards and four touchdowns as he led his team past a 10-point deficit to win 35-23.
Stafford’s favorite target last week was Golden Tate, who caught 10 catches for 107 yards. The Lions defense wasn’t slouching either and made life very hard for the Cardinals offense once they found their groove.
