Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Falcons and Jets have met 11 times dating back to 1973 with the Falcons holding a slim 6-5 in the head to head matchup. The last time these two teams met was back in 2013, where the Jets edged the Falcons 30-28. Only two current Jets (offence) were listed on the stat sheet, Bilal Powell, and Jeremy Kerley. The Jets are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games, while the Falcons are a surprising 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons concluded week 7 with another loss (there third in a row overall) to the New England Patriots, this time on Sunday night football. The Falcons struggled to move the ball, only managing to score a single touchdown against one of the league’s worst defences. Last year’s top offence has been struggling the better part of the season and currently ranked 14th in total offence (2235 yards). They should improve their numbers against a Jets defence that is ranked 26th overall (2505 yards) and 23rd against the pass (1619 yards).

New York Jets

The New York Jets are coming off a heartbreaking 31-28 loss in Miami, where the Dolphins scored 17 unanswered fourth quarter points in the contest. The Jets are now 3-4 on the season (4-2 ATS), and a strong 3-0 ATS at MetLife Stadium, but have lost two games in a row (overall). Josh McCown has been a pleasant surprise this season, ranked within the top ten in many quarterback categories, and most likely the main reason this team has overachieved by their standards. In fact, McCown is second only to Alex Smith of the Kansas City Chiefs in completion percentage with a very respectable 69.2 percent.
