The Packers established their longest losing streak in 14 years with last week’s stunning 15-9 loss in Detroit, and now face the rare challenge of ending a two-game slide on home turf at Lambeau Field. The Cowboys enjoyed a bye last week after outlasting the Chicago Bears in a 49-29 victory in Week 8, and now travel to Green Bay on an impressive 6-1 run.

The Cowboys have made steady gains since opening as 3-point favourites, climbing to 5-point chalk with the support of 77% of sports bettors. The total has dipped to 43 since opening at 44.5, with 54% of the betting action backing the UNDER.

NFL Point Spread and Betting Analysis

Sunday afternoon’s matchup marks the first meeting between these NFC rivals since 2019, and the Cowboys’ first visit to the Frozen Tundra at Lambeau Field since October 2016. The Packers have largely dominated in head-to-head action, posting wins in eight of nine overall clashes with Dallas, but dropped a 30-16 decision as 5.5-point chalk when the Cowboys last came to town six years ago. The Packers have enjoyed steady offensive productions while winning their past three dates with Dallas, averaging 34.3 points per game, sparking a 3-0 run for the OVER. In addition, each of those victories came while pegged as betting underdogs.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys attack continued to fire on all cylinders in their Week 8 victory over the Bears. Quarterback Dak Prescott continued to show no ill effects from the hand injury that sidelined him for five games, tossing for 250 yards and two touchdowns and running for a third score. The Dallas ground game has also been clicking. Rusher Tony Pollard led the charge against Chicago with three touchdowns as the Cowboys compiled 200 rushing yards. Overall, Dallas rushers have now racked up an average of 159 rushing yards over the past four games, and have evolved the team’s attack into a legitimate dual threat. The Cowboys defence also remains among the stingiest in the league. The Cowboys rank third with just 16.6 points allowed per game this season. And while the team allowed the Bears to pile up 240 rushing yards and two scoring runs, they still have allowed just four total rushing touchdowns this season, and should be well equipped to contain a Packers ground game that has produced just three scores this season.

Green Bay Packers

The Packers find themselves on the verge of freefall in the wake of last week’s loss to the Lions. Now lagging 4.5 games back of first-place Minnesota in the race for first place in the NFC North, the Packers have struggled on both sides of the ball during their epic swoon. The squad has averaged just 15.8 points per game over their five losses, and have seen two of those defeats come by double-digit margins. The frustration has been evident on the face of Aaron Rodgers, who has struggled to produce results while playing through a thumb injury. The 38-year-old pivot has managed to find the end zone in eight straight outings, and has connected on eight scoring passes during the team’s 0-5 run. However, he struggled with accuracy while tossing three picks in last week’s loss to the Lions.

While this team has managed to get past a rash of injuries, Rodgers is not alone in the clinic this week. Aaron Jones returned to practice on Wednesday despite still nursing an ankle injury, and receiver Allen Lazard caught just four of 10 passes last weekend while playing through a shoulder injury. On a positive note, the Packers have been more effective at containing opponents after halftime over their past two outings, surrendering just 10 total points. But after scoring 10 or fewer points in two of their past four outings, the Pack must find a way to generate offence if they are to have any chance of keeping pace with the Cowboys.
