The Kansas City Chiefs once again took care of business, beating back the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday Night Football in a game that was decided by just a couple of plays. The major divisional victory keeps them undefeated in a year where some pundits doubted their ability to be at the top after losing Tyreek Hill in the offseason.

The Indianapolis Colts are floundering. Not only did they tie with the Houston Texans, but they followed it up with a shutout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

NFL Week 3 Point Spread and Betting Analysis

The Chiefs have covered five straight on the road against teams with a losing home record on the year. They are also 10-2 ATS in their past 12 games during Week 3 of the regular season. When it comes to the total, the over has struck in their past five road games and eight out of their last 10 games overall.

Meanwhile, the Colts are 6-2 ATS in their past eight games when coming off of an ATS loss. This does feel like a different Colts team right now, though. Indianapolis watched the under cash out in their last seven games heading into this one.

Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes is the lifeblood of this franchise right now. Mahomes threw for 235 yards and two touchdowns without an interception against the Chargers during Week 2. Even while facing tons of pressure from Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa, he was able to get e everybody involved in the passing game and consistently looked like he had everything under his control.

The main key to this game is not letting their foot off the gas. They’ve had 10 days to prepare after playing on Thursday last week. The Chiefs can’t afford a letdown after a big divisional win. The Colts are reeling right now and if Kansas City starts fast with a 10 or 14-point lead, that’s likely all they’ll need to make this very uncomfortable for the Colts.

Indianapolis Colts

What’s going on with the Colts? Not only have they played poorly, they’ve lacked intensity. A number of players who could play better are not showing as much effort as they could. Does that mean that they’ve tuned out head coach Frank Reich? There just isn’t any excuse for what we’ve seen during these first two weeks of the season.

It all starts with their new franchise quarterback Matt Ryan. Ryan was expected to be yet another quarterback to help take them to playoff success but he doesn’t fit in right now. The veteran quarterback completed 53.3 percent of his passes for just 195 yards, zero touchdowns, and three interceptions against the Jaguars.

The Colts also fell behind so quickly trying to air it out that their superstar back barely got involved. Jonathan Taylor took nine carries for 54 yards on the afternoon. Indianapolis needs to start feeding Taylor early on and establishing some form of rhythm. That’s their path to victory here. If they fall behind and are forced to pass, this will be another loss.
