NFL Monday Night Football Point Spread and Betting Analysis

This game was originally to be played Thursday in Week 6 but was pushed back to Monday due to some COVID-19 issues around the league. There is no Thursday game this week.

While Russell Wilson is currently the NFL MVP betting favourite and Aaron Rodgers is right in the conversation, it’s possible that either Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes wins his second MVP this year or that Buffalo QB Josh Allen wins his first. Mahomes has been great since he became a starter, but Allen has improved an incredible amount – at least until Week 5.

Another reminder that only the top seed in each conference earns a first-round bye in the new playoff format so the winner here would hold a potentially crucial head-to-head tiebreaker.

Kansas City’s three-game straight up and against the spread winning streak in the series ended in the last meeting, a Buffalo 16-10 road win on Nov. 26, 2017. Mahomes was a rookie backup to Alex Smith then. Smith had a late pass picked off by Bills star cornerback Tre’Davious White to clinch it. Allen was still at the University of Wyoming and Tyrod Taylor was the Buffalo QB. He threw for 183 yards and a TD.

The road team is 7-2 against the spread in the past nine meetings. The under is 9-4 in the previous 13.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs remain the favourites to win Super Bowl 55 at Sports Interaction, but they didn’t look all that Super Bowl-worthy in being shocked 40-32 at home by Las Vegas on Sunday. There’s a reason teams don’t go 16-0 in the NFL as even the best clubs have a few bad games. Sunday’s was tied at 24-all entering the fourth, but the Raiders scored a quick 17 points to pull away.

Mahomes threw for 340 yards with two touchdowns and rushed for a score. He did throw a pick. The defence allowed 490 yards. Two big injuries from that one: Guard Kelechi Osemele is expected to miss the season with a knee injury and receiver Sammy Watkins will miss a couple of weeks with a hamstring problem. Kansas City is 5-1 ATS in its past six after a loss.

Buffalo Bills

Buffalo easily played its worst game of the season Tuesday night in getting bombed 42-16 at Tennessee, although it should be noted the Bills were without arguably the NFL’s best cornerback in White, starting linebacker Matt Milano and No. 2 wideout John Brown all due to injuries. Allen regressed without question in throwing two horrible interceptions and missing a few throws to open receivers.

Buffalo had 10 penalties and three turnovers. Allen did have two TD throws as well. Stefon Diggs had 10 catches for 106 yards and is second in the league with 509 receiving yards. Buffalo is 5-2 ATS in its past seven after a loss.
