The Baltimore Ravens have been a preseason wagon for years, stringing together a 24-game win streak that was snapped last season.
The games may not mean much on paper, but the NFL is finally back with the 2024 preseason. This is the third year since the preseason is shortened from four games to three, so August football is more important than ever as coaches look to finalize their rosters and have their teams ready to go ahead of the regular season.
Preseason betting is a different beast compared to the regular season as some coaches are cautious and rest their starters, while others give their starters playing time to prepare for the season. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the preseason history of every head coach and see if we can find some value against the spread.

Baltimore is a preseason wagon
If there’s one head coach that takes preseason games seriously, it’s Baltimore’s John Harbaugh. Last year was an anomaly for the Ravens in the preseason as they lost two of three games and saw their 24-game preseason win streak come to an end. Unbelievably, those were Baltimore’s only two preseason losses since 2015 as they swept the previous six preseasons.
The Ravens don’t just win in the preseason, they cover as well. Harbaugh is 40-20 ATS in his preseason career, including a stellar 14-2 ATS in Week 1. Those numbers are too good to be a fluke, Harbaugh and Baltimore are kings of the preseason.
Fade the Giants
It’s been a rollercoaster ride for Brian Daboll and the Giants. Daboll was named NFL Coach of the Year two years ago in his first season in New York, before the team regressed with a 6-11 record last year.
One thing that has been consistent, however, is Daboll’s lack of success in the preseason. He’s 0-6 ATS over the last two years and two of the three coaches he’ll face in the preseason this year have winning records against the spread in their career.
