Virginia Tech vs. Florida Bracket Prediction: March Madness Odds
The Florida Gators are looking to keep an impressive NCAA Tournament streak alive as they go for their eighth straight Round of 64 win on Friday. To do that however, they’ll need to go through a tough Virginia Tech Hokies team. Will Virginia Tech end the streak or will Florida’ first round dominance continue for another year?
Virginia Tech Hokies vs. Florida Gators NCAA Tournament Point Spread and Betting
Florida originally opened as a 1-point favourite over Virginia Tech, but this game has seen a lot of action and become a pick’em. Both teams struggled against the spread this season, each only managing to cover in one of their last five games. The Gators were 10-12-1 on the over/under, while the Hokies were a little better at 11-9-1. Early action has 62 per cent of Sports Interaction bettors favouring Virginia Tech and 100 per cent taking the Over at 135.
(10) Virginia Tech Hokies
Virginia Tech has been a difficult team to predict this year because COVID-19 has repeatedly messed with their schedule. They’ve only played three times in the last month and rust could be a factor. Their last game on March 11 saw the Hokies blow a half-time lead against the North Carolina Tar Heels, eventually losing 81-73. Despite that loss, Virginia Tech was consistent this season and went 9-4 in the ACC. Keve Aluma led the way with team-highs in points (15.6), rebounds (8) and blocks (1.3). Virginia Tech has the talent to do some damage in the first round and with a chance to play consistently and finally build some momentum, they could surprise some teams.
(7) Florida Gators
Florida was dealt a big blow early in the season when Keyontae Johnson collapsed during a game due to a heart condition. Johnson survived the scary incident, but his season ended there. With Johnson sidelined, the Gators have relied heavily on Tre Mann. The sophomore guard leads Florida in points per game (16), defensive rebounds (5), assists (3.4) and minutes (31.6). Mann is hitting his stride at the perfect time for the Gators, as he is averaging 23.5 points per game over Florida’s last four games and had a career-high 30-points in the Gators’ 78-66 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC Tournament.
