San Antonio Spurs vs. New York Knicks Prediction, NBA Cup Final Odds
The San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks will square off in the 2025 NBA Cup Final Tuesday in Las Vegas. Although the Thunder may not be involved, this is still a fantastic matchup between two of the best teams in the association. Both sides come in with 18-7 regular-season records.
These two teams have split the head-to-head matchups at one win apiece in each of the past three seasons. New York is 6-4 in the last 10 encounters dating back to March 2021.
The Knicks are 2.5-point favourites to win on the NBA odds, with the total set at 234.5.
Spurs vs. Knicks NBA Betting Odds
San Antonio is 9-4 against the spread in its last 13 games. New York is an amazing 5-0 ATS in its last five overall and 9-1 ATS in its last 10. However, in the head-to-head series, the Knicks are 0-3 ATS in the last three matchups and 1-5 ATS in the last six. As for the Over/Under, the Over is 6-2 in the Spurs’ past eight contests and 5-1 in the past six head-to-head meetings. The Under, though, is 7-3 in the Knicks’ last 10 outings.
In addition to the more traditional lines, the Spurs’ team total is set at 114.5 (Over -110, Under -115) and the Knicks’ team total is 116.5 (Over -105, Under -120). Jalen Brunson’s Over/Under point output is set at 29.5, while Victor Wembanyama has the highest such number for San Antonio at 21.5.
San Antonio Spurs
New York probably figured that it would run into Oklahoma City if it managed to reach the NBA Cup title game, but San Antonio had other ideas. The Spurs stunned the previously 24-1 Thunder 111-109 in the semifinals this past Saturday. It marked Wembanyama’s first appearance since missing 12 games due to a calf injury. The 7’4’’ Frenchman came off the bench and delivered 22 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks in just 21 minutes of court time.
Wembanyama’s absence may have been a blessing in disguise because San Antonio managed to go 9-3 without him, and the supporting cast has to take confidence in the way it stepped up. At 25 games into the season, a whopping eight players on the roster are averaging in double-figures, including Wembanyama at 25.8 PPG and De’Aaron Fox at 23.9 PPG. Stephon Castle (18.4 PPG) scored 30 in the NBA Cup quarters against the Lakers and 22 against OKC.
New York Knicks
New York boasts plenty of star power of its own, led by Brunson. The former Villanova standout is averaging 28.8 points and 6.4 assists per game this season. He has been especially hot of late, scoring at least 30 points in four straight outings – a stretch that features 35 during a quarterfinal victory over Toronto and 40 in the semis against Orlando. Brunson is 8-for-14 from three-point range over the past two contests.
Perhaps the only red flag regarding the Knicks is that they can sometimes struggle against tough opponents. Their last four losses have all come against teams currently in the top six of the Eastern Conference standings. Now they have to go up against arguably the second-best team in the West.
NBA Prediction: Who Will Win Spurs vs. Knicks?
The Knicks are top-heavy with Brunson playing like a legitimate MVP candidate, but they are not as deep as the Spurs. In addition to the exploits of Wembanyama, Fox, and Castle, San Antonio has watched Devin Vassell (15.7 PPG) score 23 points or more in two of the last four contests.
Don’t be surprised if head coach Mitch Johnson’s club rides the wave of momentum from Saturday’s upset of Oklahoma City. Let’s go with Spurs 116, Knicks 115.
