There are certain home games the Toronto Raptors absolutely should win this season and one of those is Friday night against the visiting Orlando Magic.

The Dinos are favoured to win on the NBA odds.

Magic vs. Raptors NBA Betting Odds

Friday is the first of three meetings between the teams with the Magic back in Toronto on Dec. 20 and the Raptors headed to Florida on April 1.

Last season, these clubs were neighbours of sorts with the Raptors playing their home games in Tampa, about 80 miles west of Orlando. Toronto won all three matchups and is on a five-game winning streak as the “home” team in the series. The Dinos lead all-time 53-39.

No question these franchises will have one major tie going forward: The 2021 NBA Draft. It was widely expected that Toronto would choose Gonzaga freshman guard Jalen Suggs with the No. 4 overall pick and most scouts agreed Suggs was the best player available at that spot. However, the Raptors of course took Florida State freshman Scottie Barnes, with Orlando thrilled to select Suggs at No. 5 overall. It’s too early to say which team got it right as both rookies have shown promise – although Barnes has clearly been better thus far.

Toronto is 8-2 against the spread in the past 10 meetings and the over-under is 5-5.

Orlando Magic

Orlando simply isn’t a good team but to be fair has a few key players still working their way back from torn ACLs in guard Markelle Fultz and forward Jonathan Isaac. In addition, 2019 first-round pick Chuma Okeke has yet to play this year due to injury and isn’t close. The Magic come off a 120-111 home loss to Charlotte on Wednesday, outscored 29-18 in the fourth quarter. Rookie Jalen Suggs was just 3-for-11 for eight points with five rebounds and four assists. He’s hitting an ugly 28.6 per cent from the field on the season. Another rookie, the No. 8 overall pick this year Franz Wagner, also starts each game and is averaging 13.6 points. Very young team under first-year coach Jamahl Mosley. The Magic are 3-7 ATS in their past 10 as road dogs.

Toronto Raptors

Toronto has two wins on the season and both were blowouts – the Dinos routed visiting Indiana 118-100 on Wednesday as Fred VanVleet led the team in scoring for the first time this year with 26 points to go with a career-high 10 rebounds and six assists. OG Anunoby had a season-high 25 points. Rookie Scottie Barnes had 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. After playing a combined 13 minutes in the previous two games, Chris Boucher got 18 minutes and had five points and three rebounds. Pascal Siakam (left shoulder surgery) practiced in full Tuesday and will practice the rest of this week Raptors’ G League associate, Raptors 905. Toronto is 1-1 ATS as a home favourite this season.
