As a matter of fact, with the Clippers playing the role of the home side, this is the final time they will do so at Crypto.com Arena. As of next season they open the Intuit Dome, closer to SoFi Stadium where the NFL’s Rams and Chargers play their matches. The Lakers will have to travel a bit to play the Clippers when they’re the away side, albeit not very far.

The Lakers are coming off a tough 123-113 loss to the Suns on Sunday, whereas the Clippers also lost, 123-107 to the Kings.

The NBA odds view the Clippers as slight -3.5 favourites for this matchup.

Lakers vs. Clippers NBA Betting Odds

The best the Clippers can do this season against the Lakers is even the series at 2-2. After years of futility, the purple and gold won the first two meetings of the current campaign before their rivals took the most recent one about a month ago. Both Lakers victories were by a combined eight points while the Clippers beat them by 11.

The Lakers continue to navigate games without some key components to their roster, such as Cam Reddish and Gabe Vincent. A bit like their overall season, L.A. has been hit-or-miss with spreads. They had a good run going for while, but have failed to cover thrice in a row, thus dropping the record to 26-33.

Rebounding is a sneaky important element in basketball. This should make for a fascinating battle between the Lakers’ Anthony Davis and the Clippers’ fourth-best defensive rebounding (opponents only corral 30.8 per match).

The Clippers could use some consistency. Their last seven games have swapped results, with L.A. going 3-4 during that stretch. They too are struggling to cover spreads, having only done so once in seven tries, worsening their tally to 29-27. Paul George is currently listed as day-to-day with a sore knee.

Los Angeles Lakers

A missed call. Not enough free throws. Too many free throws. Whatever the case, the 2023-2024 campaign has a running theme of referees apparently not doing their job correctly.

Another “thrilling” episode took place on Sunday afternoon in Phoenix as the Lakers felt as though they got the short end of the stick with respect to free throws. True enough, a 19-8 advantage for the Suns looks a bit odd, but even by today’s standards, the 19 that the hosts were awarded is less than usual. L.A. didn’t exactly help itself as they allowed one of the worst fourth-quarter clubs in the NBA to close out the game strongly. Both the Lakers and Suns hit more than 40 per cent of their long-distance attempts, although giving up 45 points in the opening stanza was a big problem for Los Angeles.

LeBron James led the way with 28 points and 12 dimes, followed by Davis’ 22 points. The latter also put in a whopping 42 minutes. D’Angelo Russell continued to produce on the attack, with 20 points and seven helpers. Despite a decent effort, the Lakers lose 123-113.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers were also last seen in action on Sunday. They were at home to the Sacramento Kings, who surprised the hosts with a 123-107 effort.

Things have been a little shaky for L.A. since early February. They’re winning enough to be in the hunt for the number one seed in the West, but now trail by 2.5 games. It was also their second defeat at home in a row and a flat performance at that. Los Angeles was unusually poor from beyond the arc, hitting only eight of 27 shots for 29.6 efficiency (they rank second in the league with 39.3). In a bitter twist, it was nice to see Norm Powell lead his side in points (21) but that might have been part of the issue with both James Harden (20) and Kawhi Leonard (20) going quieter than usual in Paul George’s absence.
