Two of the top teams in the NBA’s young season will square off on Thursday night when the New York Knicks take on the Chicago Bulls. The Knicks are 3-1 after a win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Bulls are the top team in the Eastern Conference at 4-0. Which team will continue its hot start on Thursday? We’re taking a closer look.

Knicks vs. Bulls NBA Betting Odds

The Bulls are 4-0 on the season but they’re also 4-0 against the spread. They’ve had an even split between their games in terms of the over and under, with two going over and two under.

As for the Knicks, they are 3-1 on the year both straight up and against the spread. Their one flop was losing outright in Orlando as a 12-point favourite. Meanwhile, three of their four games have gone over.

New York Knicks

The Knicks were known for their strong defence last season but they currently rank third in average points scored per game. Julius Randle is picking right where he left off by averaging 28.7 points per game. Evan Fournier has also proven to be a valuable addition to this squad, averaging 19.3 points per contest and providing an excellent scoring boost. Other players like R.J. Barrett and Kemba Walker have stepped up at times as well to help this team stay on track. This team now has five players who are averaging in double-figures, which is quite impressive. They lacked depth last year but appear to have it now.

On defence, they rank 19th in average points scored per game by their opponents.

Chicago Bulls

The Bulls are the complete opposite of the Knicks this season. They are 20th in the league in points scored per game as a team but are fourth in points allowed. Chicago has been one of the most pleasant-to-watch teams in the new year behind all of their new talent. Zach LaVine has heavily benefited from the addition of Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso and DeMar DeRozan in this back court. Many thought it would be crowded but it’s working really well so far. They display tremendous chemistry on both ends of the floor and are one of the best teams right now. Ball, in particular, has looked improved. He’s shooting 45.7 per cent from the field and 43.3 per cent from three. That’s more than 4 per cent better in each category over last year.

These two teams may match up well against one another, but the confidence that this Bulls team is playing with is going to give them the edge here.
