UFC-202 Nate-Diaz-Conor-McGregor

A rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz has been finalized and was announced during this past weekend’s UFC 199 event. The rematch will headline UFC 202 on August 20 in Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena.

Nate Diaz beat the former UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor in an upset win at UFC 196, in which Diaz won with a second-round submission. This time, McGregor will once again move up to welterweight to fight Diaz. The expected rematch was originally slated for UFC 200, but McGregor unexpectedly and dramatically retired from the UFC for a week before his terms were met. UFC President Dana White has stated said that UFC 196 registered 1.5 million pay-per-view buys, making it their most successful event to date.

The upset to Diaz was McGregor’s first loss in his eight UFC fights, which brought his professional record to 19-3. Diaz, who has been grinding in the UFC for almost a decade, now stands at 19-10. McGregor made it clear that he wanted to fight Diaz at 170 pounds again, saying “What kind of fighter would I be if I said, ‘Hey, I didn’t get you at 170, let me try to get you at 155. I’ll make my adjustments. I ate up to the weight. This time, I won’t do that.”
