UFC 200 will now feature three different title fights with Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones topping the card.
Daniel Cormier may be the current Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion on paper, but he opened as an underdog in his UFC 200 main event rematch with interim title holder Jon “Bones” Jones.
Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier Odds
Early UFC odds list Jones as a -300 favourite on July 9 at UFC 200 against Cormier, who opens as a +220 underdog.
Jones closed as a -167 favourite when he defeated Cormier via unanimous decision in their first fight back at UFC 182. The duo was scheduled to fight at UFC 197 but Cormier was forced to withdraw due to injury. Instead, Jones earned another unanimous decision on Ovince Saint Preux, who stepped in on short notice to take the fight.
Now, at long last, the rematch is on again and UFC 200 odds are live.
“The doctor’s appointment went well. I’m happy, I’m as happy as anybody could be to be in this situation,” Cormier said on Good Morning America.
“I’ve been wanting to fight Jon for a long time after he beat me last January. I feel great. I made a lot of improvement in the last training camp and I don’t think in July it should be a problem.”
Conor McGregor was originally slated to face Nate Diaz in a rematch in the UFC 200 main event, but UFC president Dana White pulled McGregor from the card when the Irishman wouldn’t agree to attend a promotional press conference in Las Vegas.
UFC 200 Odds
Jones and Cormier will headline what is turning out to be a stacked card already. With more than three months remaining before fight night, three title bouts have been confirmed for the UFC 200 card. Rumour has it at least one more big fight will be added shortly.
