The 2020 RSM Classic PGA Tour Golf Betting Odds

A big letdown this week on the PGA Tour after arguably the most unusual Masters in history as the professionals stay in the state of Georgia for the RSM Classic. Webb Simpson is favoured on the golf odds.

Needless to say, most big-name players are done playing in official events for 2020 following the Masters. This is the final official Tour event in the USA for this year (one still remaining in Mexico).

The RSM Classic debuted in 2010 at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island in Georgia’s Golden Isles. It essentially came about all because of Davis Love III, who lives in the area, and his foundation runs the tournament. Three of the four rounds are played over the par 70, 7,000-yard Seaside Course and all players will play one of their first two rounds at the Plantation Course (slightly longer and a par 72).

Love III and his brother Mark redesigned the Plantation Course in 2019. Winds are definitely going to play a factor as they are the main defence on the courses. Love III isn’t playing this year due to a back injury.

It might be wise to expect a first-time winner and in a playoff Sunday. Last year, relative unknown Tyler Duncan won his first PGA Tour title with a 12-foot birdie putt on the second hole of a playoff against Simpson. Duncan finished at 19-under 263, shooting a first-round 67 at the Plantation Course before shooting 61-70-65 in the final three rounds on the Seaside Course.

Duncan was the fifth first-time winner in the 10 years of this event and it was the fifth all-time playoff. Every winner here has been at least 14 under par. Kevin Kisner set the tournament mark of 22 under in 2015 when he romped by six shots. Americans have won this all but once. Duncan is a +8000 long shot to repeat, which no one has done here or even won it twice overall. Duncan hasn’t contended anywhere since.

Simpson (+800) comes off a Top 10 at the Masters, thanks to a final-round 68 and had that runner-up at Sea Island last year. He also was second in 2011, losing in a playoff to Ben Crane, and has two other Top-10 finishes in the tournament.

Tyrrell Hatton (+1600) makes his debut here and comes off a missed cut at Augusta. Harris English (+1800) didn’t play the Masters and has missed the cut here three of the past four years. Sungjae Im (+1800) was 37th in his lone visit here two years ago and was a co-runner-up at the Masters with Cameron Smith, five shots behind Dustin Johnson.

Hamilton-born Mackenzie Hughes got his first and still only PGA Tour victory in 2016 here, beating Blayne Barber, Billy Horschel, Henrik Norlander and Camilo Villegas in a playoff. They had all finished 72 holes at 17 under. Hughes holed an 18-foot par putt from off the green Monday morning to win in what was then only his ninth overall start on the PGA Tour.

David Hearn was the top Canadian last year at T30, while Hughes was T65 and Adam Hadwin T68. Nick Taylor and Michael Gligic both missed the cut. Hughes is +6600 this week with Hadwin (missed cut at the Masters) +10000, Taylor +15000 and Hearn +20000. Corey Conners is among the favourites at +2500 off his T10 at the Masters.

The RSM Classic Golf Predictions

We like Conners for a Top 10 but have Simpson is the winner as he’s overdue a victory here.
