RBC Canadian Open Predictions: PGA Tour Tee Times, Betting Odds

Golf has captured the headlines this week, with the news of the PGA Tour’s merger agreement with LIV Golf overshadowing what promises to be a great weekend of action at Oakdale County, the site of the 2023 RBC Canadian Open. However, considering the tough day he endured during a final round meltdown, and the even tougher day he had after being blindsided by the LIV merger news, it is no surprise that sports bettors may be looking elsewhere for value on the RBC Canadian Open odds.

Here’s a look at some of the best bets to consider ahead of opening tee off at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open on Thursday morning.

With top-20 finishes in four of his past six tournament appearances including a victory at the Valero Texas Open, Corey Conners looks to be peaking at the right time as he heads north of the border. But like McIlroy, Conners is  coming off a tough weekend at the Memorial Tournament, missing the cut for the third time in his past seven outings.

Considering his recent inconsistent results, it is tough to back the 31-year-old Listowel, Ontario native in his bid to rewrite a losing narrative at the RBC Canadian Open, where has missed five cuts in seven appearances, and finished among the top 70 just once. However, Conners’ woes pale in comparison to his fellow Canadians playing in this event including MacKenzie Hughes and Adam Hadwin, each of whom are coming off disappointing performances.

That certainly adds to the value of Conners’ +200 odds to emerge as top Canadian, almost by default. But for sports bettors in the Great White North looking to back a dark horse on the top Canadian odds, look no further than Taylor Pendrith, who is worth a value bet at +800 after cracking the top 30 in three of his past four outings.

Tyrell Hatton a High-Value Sleeper

RBC Canadian Open

Top GB and Ireland
  • Tyrrell Hatton +450

With Rory McIlroy living through a hellish week, there is no better time to fade the four-time major tournament winner. In addition to leading the way on the odds to win this weekend, McIlroy is also pegged as chalk on the top British and top European odds at +145 and +187, respectively.

However PGA golf betting fans should not overlook Tyler Hatton, who is coming off a 12th-place finish at the Memorial, which marks his fifth straight top 20 performance. Hatton is also well accustomed to competing on the week prior to a major tournament, and will be aiming to find a higher gear this weekend on a course that many observers suggest is well suited to his game. Accordingly, he is a solid +450 bet to lead the way among players from Great Britain and Ireland.

Expect Cameron Young’s Woes to Continue

RBC Canadian Open

To Make The Cut - Cameron Young
  • Yes -962
  • No +458

Cameron Young has plenty of work to do to snap out of his current funk. The 26-year-ol American has struggled mightily since his impressive seventh-place performance at the Masters, failing to crack the top 50 in four outings since, and missing the cut at both the PGA Championship and Memorial Tournament.

The power hitter has struggled to hit fairways during his current slide, a concern that could prove devastating at Oakdale County, where precision will be rewarded over power, and he arrives in Toronto ranked 184th in putting. Young enters the tourney closely trailing the favourites as a massively overvalued +1600 bet to earn the win. However, the far better vale can be found in his lucrative +449 odds to miss the cut in three straight outing for the first time in his career.

Picks: Taylor Pendrith top Canadian (+800); Tyrell Hatton top GB & Irish (+450); Cameron Young miss the cut (+449)
