3M Open: 2022 PGA Tour Betting Odds
Being honest, the fields for the next three PGA Tour events including the 3M Open are going to be fairly weak until the FedExCup Playoffs start Aug. 11. The 3M Open is in a particularly bad spot following the British Open. Aussie Cameron Smith won that Sunday and is among those skipping this week.
This event has only been around since 2019 and is hosted by the TPC Twin Cities, a par 71 at about 7,430 yards about 15 miles north of Minneapolis/St. Paul on a former sod farm. One unique name in the field this week is former professional tennis player Mardy Fish, a Minnesota native, on a sponsor exemption. The 40-year-old won a silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and retired from professional tennis in 2015. He has been one of the better players on the celebrity golf tour, winning a few times.
Only Americans have won this tournament with Cameron Champ as the defending champion. He shot a bogey-free 5-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 15-under 269 and two ahead of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel and Jhonattan Vegas. It was Champ’s third career PGA Tour win; he hasn’t come close since and is having a miserable year. Thus, a +5600 longer shot to become the first repeat winner of the 3M Open.
3M Open Golf Odds
Tony Finau is the +1400 favourite. He was T28 here last year and T3 in 2020. He comes off a T28 at the British Open. Hideki Matsuyama is +1700 with Adam Hadwin at +1800 and Davis Riley +2000. Matsuyama was T7 his only trip here in 2019. Riley is making his tournament debut.
The top Canadian finisher last year was Hadwin at T6 – a third-round 73 killed his chances of winning. Roger Sloan was T16, Michael Gligic T49 and David Hearn T58. Adam Svensson is +4300 this week with Nick Taylor +7600, Gligic +9100 and Sloan +24800.
That there is a playoff for the first time is +300 with no at -455. The winning nationality is USA at -263 with European at +1200 and rest of world +220.
3M Open Golf Predictions
Take an American to win at -263 and as for an individual I like Cameron Tringale at +3100 – yes back-to-back Camerons! He has made the cut all three trips to the tournament with a best of T3. He shot a 69 Sunday at the British Open.
