2021 3M Open: PGA Tour Betting Odds
It’s a bit of a watered-down field this week on the PGA Tour at the 3M Open because the event is in a tough spot on the schedule following the British Open and ahead of the Olympic golf tournament in Tokyo. Dustin Johnson is favoured on the golf odds.
A few high-profile golfers decided not to play in the Olympics because of COVID concerns in Japan – including Johnson. The USA can only send four golfers to the Olympics, and they are Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele and Bryson DeChambeau. Collin Morikawa, who won the British Open on Sunday, is not in this field.
This tournament has only been around since 2019; it replaced a former Champions Tour event called the 3M Championship in Minnesota’s Twin Cities. The TPC Twin Cities is the host course and is a par 71 at around 7,430 yards. The course record is a 62 by a few guys.
The inaugural event in 2019 was won at 21-under 263 by Matthew Wolff when he became just the third golfer in history to win an NCAA individual national championship and a PGA Tour title in the same year.
Last year, Michael Thompson won at 19-under 265. He birdied two of his final three holes during the final round to shoot 4-under 67 and edge out Adan Long by two shots. It was Thompson’s second career PGA Tour win (still on that number) and came seven years after his first.

Dustin Johnson, who has dropped back to world No. 2 (replaced by Jon Rahm at No. 1), played this tournament last year but withdrew because of a back injury after a first-round 78. DJ isn’t having a very good year despite that ranking but does come off a T8 at the British Open.
Louis Oosthuizen was the 54-hole leader at the British Open but ended up third at 11 under, four behind Morikawa. Oosthuizen is +1200 as he plays here for the first time.
Patrick Reed and Tony Finau are both +1600. I liked Finau to win the British Open and he was T15 at 5 under. He has played here both years with a best of T3 in 2020. Reed was T23 here two years ago in his lone visit. He missed the cut at the British Open.
Seamus Power, who won the opposite-field Barbasol Championship on Sunday, had been priced +3500 this week but decided to withdraw. I was really high on Brian Harman at +3300, but he also withdrew. Wolff is +2800 and Thompson +6600 as they try to become the first two-time winners of the 3M Open.
The top Canadian finisher in 2020 was Michael Gligic at T26 (11 under). Roger Sloan, Aaron Crawford and David Hearn missed the cut. Adam Hadwin is +8000 this week with Sloan +15000, and Hearn and Gligic each +40000. Hadwin missed the cut at the British Open. Gligic was 19th at the Barbasol, Hearn T20 and Sloan T31.
3M Open Golf Predictions
Take Johnson and Finau for Top 10s, but the winner at +3900 is Emiliano Grillo. He comes off a T12 at the British Open and was T3 here last year.
