2019 PGA Tour Golf Tour Championship Odds and Prediction
The 2018 Tour Championship was very memorable but also a bit awkward. Tiger Woods had a scintillating victory in the tournament but wasn’t the only one celebrating afterward. That’s because England’s Justin Rose won the FedExCup. Check out Sports Interaction’s Tour Championship odds here.
Tour Championship Date, History and Location
To ensure that the Tour Championship winner would also be the FedExCup winner going forward, the PGA Tour changed the format this year in the tournament. Now players start Thursday with staggered scores depending on where they stand in the points. Only the Top 30 in points qualified to play this week, meaning there will be no cut.
Justin Thomas won the BMW Championship last week outside Chicago and vaulted to No. 1 in the points. Thus, he will tee off Thursday at East Lake in Atlanta at 10 under par. Patrick Cantlay is No. 2 in the points and will start the tournament at 8 under. World No. 1 Brooks Koepka is third and starts at 7 under. Patrick Reed (6 under) and Rory McIlroy (5 under) round out the Top 5 in points. Players 6-10 in points start at 4 under, those 11-15 at 3 under, 16-20 at 2 under, 21-25 at 1 under and 26-30 at even par. Interesting concept.
East Lake Golf Club is a par 70 measuring around 7,385 yards. It became the permanent host of the Tour Championship in 2004. There will be no repeat winner this year because Tiger didn’t finish in the Top 30. Neither did big names like Phil Mickelson or Jordan Spieth (also former Tour Championship winners).
This year’s tournament takes place fr0m August 22–25, 2019.

Tour Championship Betting Favourites
The odds are pretty much equal to how the guys will start on Thursday. Thomas is the +250 favourite. He essentially won last week’s tournament with a third-round 61. It was his first victory since the 2018 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Thomas has been Top 10 at the Tour Championship the past three years, including a runner-up in 2017 when he won the FedExCup.
Cantlay is +450 with Koepka at +550 and McIlroy at +800 (oddsmakers not as high on Reed as he’s +1400). McIlroy won this tournament in 2016 in a playoff over Kevin Chappell and Ryan Moore. Cantlay doesn’t have a Top 10 in two trips to this tournament. Koepka’s best was a sixth two years ago.
Canadian Golfer Odds
The only Canadian in the field is Corey Conners. He’s 23rd in points and thus starts at 1 under. Conners is a +30000 long shot along with Lucas Glover, Chez Reavie and Charles Howell III. It’s Conners’ first time playing this event. One Canadian has won this tournament: Mike Weir in 2001. No Canadian has won the FedExCup, which debuted in 2007.
Tour Championship Predictions
We’ll take a shot on Dustin Johnson at +2200 even though he’s starting well back at 3 under. DJ has five Top 10s in his past six trips to Atlanta but yet to win this tournament.
