The Ti-Cats have enjoyed an offensive resurgence during their current two-game win streak, capped by last weekend’s 37-21 win over Ottawa but have failed to record a regular season victory in Toronto in six visits since 2019. The Argonauts are gunning for a fourth straight victory on home turf after recording an impressive 33-17 win in BC last week but have recorded consecutive victories just once in their past 11 contests.

The Argonauts lead the way as a 6.5-point home favourites on the CFL Week 16 odds. Hamilton trails as a +240 underdog on the CFL moneyline and the total is listed at 53.5.

Friday night’s matchup will be the third and final regular season meeting between these long-time rivals. The Tiger-Cats rolled to victories in their two previous dates with the Argos, both on home turf, capped by a 31-28 win in this season’ Labour Day Classic, and now enjoy their first two-game head-to-head win streak in three years.

However, things have not gone so well in recent visits to the Big Smoke, where the Tiger-Cats have been outclassed during their current 0-6 run, which has featured four defeats by double-digits while scoring an average of just 16 points per game. That stunted production has contributed to a steady 4-2 run for the OVER in totals betting.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

While the Tiger-Cats are coming off a pair of impressive performances, they are quickly running out of time in their efforts to return to the playoff race in the CFL East. Hamilton enters the weekend trailing the Argos by six points in the standings with just five games remaining on their schedule and will be all but eliminated from postseason contention with a loss on Friday.

That adds to the pressure on quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to duplicate the standout performances he turned in over the past two weeks. The veteran pivot has tossed for four touchdowns against just one pick over his past two outings, including a two-score effort against the Boatmen on Labour Day while receiver Steven Dunbar Jr. is coming off his best performance of the season, racking up 151 receiving yards and his third scoring catch of the season in last week’s win.

Toronto Argonauts

After producing mixed results in a 41-27 loss in Ottawa two weeks ago, Chad Kelly settled down last week and flashed some of the form that earned him CFL Most Outstanding Player honours last season. Kelly followed up on his three-TD, four-interception performance by going 18-for-28 for 268 yards and one touchdown while avoiding a pick for the first time in his four game appearances this season. Kelly also demonstrated his ability to carry the ball, compiling a season-high 56 rushing yards while running for his second score of the season.

The unheralded star of last week’s victory is kicker Lirim Hajrullahu, who sealed the win with six field goals, masking some of the Argos’ struggles to penetrate the Lions red zone. However, those concerns can be allayed by the performance of a stout Toronto defence that racked up seven sacks in that contest after sacking Mitchell four times on Labour Day.
