RedBlacks vs. Stampeders Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds

While both teams are just 2-3 on the season, each is fresh off adrenaline-filled wins. The Redblacks stunned the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with a 19-point fourth quarter to force overtime and then steal the victory. As for the Stampeders, they kicked a game-winning field goal as time expired in a down-to-the-wire win over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Which of these teams can build on their momentum?

Our CFL odds place the Stampeders as -4.0 favourites, with the total set at 44.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Redblacks have had trouble keeping momentum on their side. They are just 3-9 ATS in their last 12 off a win and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 off an ATS win. Taking a look at their totals, the under is 4-1 in their five games this season and 5-1 dating back to last season.

As for the Stamps, they’ve covered four of their last five against teams with a losing record. However, playing at home hasn’t been much of an advantage of late. They are just 7-21 ATS in their last 28 at McMahon Stadium.

Ottawa RedBlacks

What are we to make of the Redblacks? They were 1-3 and staring down the barrel of a 1-4 start had it not been for an incredible flurry in the final three minutes. They trailed by 19 but managed to claw their way back. Now the question is whether this is the franchise-defining turnaround they were hoping for – where everything seemingly came together – or was this just an aberration? It’s hard to say right now.

The Redblacks were onto their fourth quarterback in five games. Typically, that’s not a good sign. Maybe they’ve found something in Dustin Crum, though. He totaled 364 yards, two rushing touchdowns and a pick. This is a team that has talent at wide receiver with Nate Behar, Justin Hardy, and Jaelon Acklin, and they also got running back Devonte Williams back from an injury last week. It is possible that Crum is the missing piece that will make this offence go. If that’s the case, the Redblacks are attractive as a mid-size underdog here.

Calgary Stampeders

The Stampeders have been holding out hope that Jake Maier and the offence would start to click. Through their first four games, it didn’t look great as the team had ups and downs. They had averaged 19.5 points per outing and were coming off a dismal 11-point effort in Week 5. However, Week 6 might have been the turnaround everyone was waiting for. The team scored a season-high 33 points, pouring in 20 in the first half alone. Maier looked strong, going 26-of-37 for 315 yards, two touchdowns and a pick. What made it more impressive is that he didn’t have much support from the ground game, which totalled 54 yards on 16 carries.

It still feels like it’s tough to trust the Stamps here. They are winless at home this season and their only other win was against Ottawa in Week 2. However, the Redblacks were a very different team as quarterback woes handcuffed their offence. They managed just 15 points. That means this Sunday’s matchup could look very different.
