QB Tyrie Adams to Start for Redblacks

It’s been a rough season so far for Ottawa, and the bye week in Week 3 has allowed coach Bob Dyce and his staff to make a big decision heading into their third bout with the Elks.

Already 0-2 and having scored the least points per game in the CFL (13.5), it’s been a struggle without true starting quarterback Jeremiah Masoli leading the charge. The latter is in the final stages of recovery after breaking his leg in Week 5 of the 2022 season.

Nick Arbuckle got the nod in the first two games but didn’t produce many fireworks in either opportunity. As such, Ottawa will head into battle at home against Edmonton with Tyrie Adams.

There had been talks of Masoli possibly playing in Week 3, but that evidently will not be the case.

Coach Dyce explains:

“As everyone talked bout, he (Masoli) had the staph infection, and that slowed the process. It’s not like he’s re-injured anything, we just want to make sure, as valuable as he is, that when he gets onto the field he’s 100 per cent ready to go.”

Tyrie Adams partook in the second game season against Calgary. He attempted 17 throws, made nine completions for 129 yards and threw one interception.
