Both teams are coming off of Week 13 losses. The Argos fell 31-28 to the last place Tiger-Cats, while the RedBlacks were blown out 38-12 in BC.

Ottawa opened as a slim 1.5-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the total set at 51.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

It’s been all Toronto in head-to-head action between these teams in recent years. The Argonauts have won nine of the last 10 meetings while going 8-2 against the spread in those games. The Over has hit in four straight meetings.

While Toronto has had Ottawa’s number in recent years, be wary of the Argos this week as they are just 1-4 on the road this season compared to 5-1 at home. They’ve also been a rough cover option at 4-7 ATS on the season, including 1-3 ATS in their last four games.

The RedBlacks have been much more productive at home this season, going 5-0-1 (2-2-0 on the road). And Ottawa has rewarded bettors with a 7-4 ATS record, including covers in three of their last four games.

Toronto Argonauts

It was a tough break for the Argos last week as they lost to the last place team in the CFL in Hamilton. Chad Kelly completed 24 of 30 pass attempts for 322 yards, one touchdown and one interception in his second game back from suspension. Kelly also added 39 yards and a score on the ground. Ka’Deem Carey had another productive outing with 79 rushing yards, while David Ungerer (78 yards) and DaVaris Daniels (74 yards, one TD) led the team in receiving.

One area Toronto desperately needs to improve is their passing game, which ranks last in the CFL with an average of 231.1 passing yards per game. With Kelly suspended for the first nine games of the season, the Argonauts were forced to rely on an unproven Cameron Dukes and veteran journeyman Nick Arbuckle. The hope is that Kelly can regain the form that saw him named Most Outstanding Player last season.

Ottawa RedBlacks

Ottawa was absolutely dismantled by BC last week, failing to lead at any point in the game and trailing by 25 points at the half. Dru Brown was sacked four times, finishing with 206 passing yards and a touchdown. Ryquell Armstead led the team with just 24 rushing yards, while Eli Stove had a team-high 73 receiving yards.

In a surprise move, the RedBlacks released Armstead on Tuesday. Armstead, who currently ranks fourth in the CFL in rushing yards (623), has been fined twice by the CFL this season and he was ejected in Week 8 against Calgary. Ottawa signed former Saskatchewan running back Jamal Morrow as a replacement. Morrow, who rushed for 907 yards and four TDs last season, hasn’t played this season because of a wrist injury.
