Argonauts vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds

Week 6 of the CFL season kicks off with a rivalry game between Montreal and Toronto. The Als improved to a perfect 5-0 on the year with last week’s 30-26 home win against Calgary, while the Argos dropped to a .500 win percentage following a 30-23 loss in Saskatchewan.

Montreal opened as 6.5-point favourites to win on the CFL odds, with the total listed at 50.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

This is the second meeting between the teams this season following the Alouettes’ 30-20 win in Toronto two weeks ago. It was Montreal’s second consecutive win over the Argos and first since they upset Toronto in last year’s East Division final.

The Alouettes have obviously been a great straight up play this season, but it’s worth noting they are just 3-2 against the spread. They’ve been trickier to predict on the total as the Over/Under has alternated evenly over their last four games.

The Argonauts have been a terrible cover option this season at 1-3 ATS while failing to cover in three straight games. They’ve generally played higher scoring contests, with the Over hitting in three of four games.

Montreal continues to have the best Grey Cup odds at +225 on the CFL futures board. Toronto has the fourth-shortest odds at +600.

Toronto Argonauts

For the first three games this season it looked like the Argos found a great replacement for the suspended Chad Kelly, but Cameron Dukes’ meltdown in Week 5 has now left some serious doubt regarding Toronto’s quarterback problems. Dukes completed 19 of 33 pass attempts for 206 yards while throwing four interceptions and no touchdowns. Dukes has now thrown as many touchdowns (five) as he has interceptions this season. Dukes will get another shot to start this week, but with Nick Arbuckle serving as a reliable backup, the leash will likely be short.

Running back Ka’Deem Carey scored the Argonauts’ lone touchdown last week as he continues to have a strong first season in the Six. Carey sits third in the CFL with 269 rushing yards while scoring three total touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving). The Arizona native is a big reason why Toronto averages the most rushing yards per game (123.8) and the most rushing yards per play (5.6).

Montreal Alouettes

Montreal trailed heading into the fourth quarter against Calgary last week, but they kept their perfect season alive by scoring 15 unanswered points in the final frame. Walter Fletcher iced the game with a 31-yard touchdown run with under two minutes left in the game. Fletcher was also a passing threat, racking up 104 receiving yards to become the fourth different Als player to hit the century mark in a game this season. Tyson Philpot led the team with 134 receiving yards, topping 100 yards for the third time in 2024.

Cody Fajardo finished with 374 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions last week. Fajardo has had a solid season and ranks third in the CFL in passing yards (1,574) while throwing 10 TDs and four interceptions. It’s the defence, however, that has carried the Alouettes this season. Montreal leads the CFL in average opponent total yards (336.0), passing yards (241.8), QBR (76.6) and points (19.8) allowed per game.
