When the idea of this matchup was first floated, nobody thought it was a possibility. Well, may be nobody outside of McGregor and Mayweather themselves. But now amid reports that the pair have agreed on financial terms, it’s time to realize this fight may just happen.
Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor
We originally opened odds for this bout in early December 2016 and posted Floyd Mayweather as a massive -3425 favourite against the +900 underdog McGregor.
Since then, with the betting public putting their support behind the UFC’s Irish superstar, our Mayweather vs. McGregor odds have shifted dramatically. Now, the 39-year-old Mayweather is still heavily favoured, but his odds have been slashed to -1350 while McGregor is posted at +635.
Of course, there are still a lot of hurdles to overcome before this pair shares the squared circle, but bettors are in McGregor’s corner.
“That’s the only fight that will get me back in the ring,” Mayweather told reporters.
“He’s going to do a job on his side and we are going to do a job on my side and hopefully all the fans in the UK come over and support me.”
Could the MMA star score a huge upset against Mayweather?
“It’s the fight the people want,” McGregor recently told reporters. “It’s the fight I want. I know I’m confident going in there.
“I’ve got the reach. I’ve got youth. I’ve got the confidence. I’ve got the unpredictable style. You can’t prepare for a style like me. A guy said to me, why conquer one world when you can conquer two? So I’m going to go conquer two worlds.”
