CFL Odds: Montreal Alouettes sign Davis Alexander through 2028
The Montreal Alouettes have signed quarterback Davis Alexander to a one-year contract extension, it was announced on Tuesday.
Here’s what you need to know.
Davis Alexander
The one-year extension keeps Alexander under contract with the Alouettes through 2028. He previously signed a three-year extension last off-season.
The 27-year-old threw for 2,024 yards with 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in eight regular season games. He added another 110 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Alexander set a record for most consecutive wins to start a career by a quarterback at 11-0. Playing through a hamstring injury, he led the Als to a Grey Cup appearance, suffering his first CFL loss against the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
“We’re thrilled that we were able to come to an agreement on an extension with Davis and his camp,” general manager Danny Maciocia said in a news release. “We’re committed to him and he’s committed to this team, the city of Montreal and the province of Quebec. In his first year as our starting quarterback, Davis performed brilliantly. We’re excited to see where he’ll lead us over the next few years.”
Montreal Alouettes
The Alexander extension is the fifth key signing by Montreal this off-season. The Alouettes also extended receiver Tyson Philpot, kicker Jose Maltos Diaz and offensive linemen Donny Ventrelli and Pier-Olivier Lestage.
Montreal currently sits as a +275 favourite to win the Grey Cup in 2026, just ahead of Toronto (+500), B.C. (+600) and Saskatchewan (+600).
