Arsenal vs. PSG Champions League Final preview and prediction

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is right around the corner, but we still have a major contest on our hands this Saturday, May 30. The English Premier League champions, Arsenal, will take on the Ligue 1 and reigning Champions League winners, Paris Saint-Germain, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary. While PSG aims to become the first French team to ever win back-to-back UCL Finals, Arsenal is trying to grab its first-ever UCL trophy.

With history on the line, there is plenty to play for, so let’s get into my Arsenal vs. PSG prediction before the game kicks off at 12 p.m. ET this Saturday.

Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain Champions League Odds and Betting Trends

Arsenal are the underdogs in this one, as they have +120 odds to win the cup and +215 odds to win the game in 90 minutes. Meanwhile, PSG is priced at -145 to lift the UCL trophy on the Champions League odds and +135 to win in regulation; the draw has +230 odds. Arsenal hasn’t been an underdog many times this season, but this PSG squad beat them in back-to-back legs in the UCL semifinal last season, so Mikel Arteta’s team knows what they’re up against.

The Over/Under for Saturday’s final is 2.5; the Over has +100 odds, and the Under carries a -125 price. While both squads boast impressive attacks, the defences cannot be ignored. There have been fewer than three goals in three of PSG’s last five games overall and in three of their previous four UCL ties. For Arsenal, there have been fewer than 2.5 goals in five of their latest seven matches and in all six of their UCL knockout ties this season. Overall, I expect a tight, low-scoring affair.

Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has already made history by leading Arsenal to their first EPL title since 2003, but he’d etch his name in Arsenal history if they win the Champions League in the same season. While Arsenal’s brand of soccer isn’t fun to watch for the neutral fan, I can’t deny their ability to grind out results. While they did play more of an open style in the group stage, they’ve completely shut things down in the knockout stage. Their 2-0 victory in the second leg against Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16 is the only knockout game they’ve scored more than once.

I expect Arteta to take a similar approach to this game as he did in the first leg last season, but this is a much improved Arsenal squad. First off, Gabriel Jesus missed both legs against PSG last season, so that will be a huge addition in the back, AND Arsenal finally has a true striker in Viktor Gyökeres. Kai Havertz is healthy again too, and the addition of  Eberechi Eze this offseason cannot be understated. Overall, Arsenal is in a perfect spot to pull off this upset, especially given PSG’s injury concerns.

Paris Saint-Germain

PSG captured its 12th Ligue 1 crown in the last 14 seasons and fifth consecutive when they beat second-place Lens on May 13. Although fans may have expected Luis Enrique to rest most of his starters in their subsequent game against Paris FC, multiple starters were still in the Starting XI. Among them was Ousmane Dembele, who suffered an injury and was forced off in the 27th minute. His status for Saturday’s game is up in the air, but Dembele told French outlet M6 that “I will be back on the pitch on May 3.”

Dembele playing will be big for PSG, but another player to watch because of injury is Achraf Hakimi. He exited PSG’s semifinal first leg against Bayern Munich and is doubtful for this one. Finally, Nuno Mendes also exited the first leg against Bayern, returned during the second but was forced off, and hasn’t played since. These are three key players to PSG’s starting lineup, and although they have the depth to replace them, their overall quality will take a step down if all three players don’t start.

Champions League Final Prediction: Who Will Win Arsenal vs. Paris Saint-Germain?

While PSG’s first two knockout ties against AS Monaco and Chelsea were filled with fireworks, Luis Enrique has taken a more conservative approach against elite competition. I know, they beat Bayern 5-4 in the first leg of the semis, but historically in knockout ties, they’ve played in lower-scoring contests against Europe’s best. Other than the 5-4 win, here are their latest eight results:

  • 1-1 Draw @ Bayern Munich
  • 2-0 Win @ Liverpool
  • 2-0 Win vs. Liverpool
  • 5-0 Win vs. Inter (UCL Final)
  • 2-1 Win vs. Arsenal
  • 1-0 Win @ Arsenal
  • 1-0 Win @ Liverpool
  • 1-0 Loss vs. Liverpool

Meanwhile, all six of Arsenal’s UCL knockout games have finished with fewer than three goals, and I expect Arteta to take a conservative approach given that this is his first-ever UCL final. Therefore, I’ll be smashing the Under this Saturday, but I think Arsenal can bring it home in the end.

Best Bet: Under 2.5 Goals (-125)

Lean: Arsenal to Win the Cup (+120)

Score Prediction: Arsenal 1 | Paris Saint-Germain 0 (+850)
