Alouettes vs. Lions Prediction: CFL Week 11 Point Spread, Odds

The Alouettes hit the road after dropping a heartbreaking 23-22 decision to the Edmonton Elks last weekend and have now lost four of six since opening the campaign with three straight decisive wins. The Lions return home after eking out a 41-38 win in Hamilton last week but have posted straight up and against the spread losses in each of their past three home dates.

The Lions have vaulted to 7-point home favourites on the CFL Week 11 odds. The Alouettes lag as lengthy +260 underdogs on the CFL moneyline and the total is pegged at 51.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

Saturday night’s matchup wraps up the two-game season series between these squads. The Lions escaped with a narrow 21-20 win when they visited Montreal back on July 5, extending their recent dominance of the Als.

Overall, the Lions have taken five straight from the Alouettes both SU and ATS, and have claimed victory in 14 of 16 meetings with Montreal since August 2015 including six straight wins on home turf. Five of those six recent home wins have come by double-digit margins.

In addition, the Lions have dominated when facing the Als while favoured by six or more points, winning 11 of 12 since 2005 while covering in six of their past seven. However, the Lions have struggled at home of late, surrendering an average of 32.3 points per game during their current three-game swoon. Indeed, this squad has been an overall betting disappointment this season, losing outright in three of five as betting chalk.

The Als have not fared much better, covering just once during their current 2-4 run but have gone 3-1 SU on the road this season including a narrow 23-21 win in Calgary as 6-point dogs three weeks ago.

Montreal Alouettes

Already missing starting quarterback Davis Alexander due to injury, the Alouettes have suffered another major blow, with veteran pivot McLeod Bethel-Thompson suffering an elbow injury that has landed him on the six-game injured list.

To fill the void under centre, the Als signed veteran Cameron Dukes this week. However, according to head coach Jason Maas, Caleb Evans will take over the offence for Saturday’s contest. Evans stepped in last week in relief of Bethel-Thompson at halftime and produced a respectable 113 yards on 14-for-18 passing while connecting for one touchdown.

However, Evans struggled to spark the offence in the fourth quarter, opening the door for the Elks’ game-winning rally, and will be missing some key downfield targets, with Tyson Mack, Austin Mack, and Sean Thomas Erlington all landing on this week’s injury report.

BC Lions

The Lions twice blew leads last week before finally sealing a narrow 41-38 win over the Tiger-Cats with field goal in the dying seconds. While the win is welcome, it also marked the fifth time this season the Lions have surrendered at least 33 points including each of their past three home dates.

While the spotlight has been squarely fixed on passer Nathan Rourke, who tossed for 408 yards and two scores in last week’s win, the contribution of James Butler cannot be overlooked. The Lions running back galloped for 85 yards and one TD last week to claim the league lead with 704 rushing yards.

And with three scoring runs over his past two games to bring his season total to six, Butler offers value as a +125 bet on the CFL player props to reach the end zone at some point on Saturday night.
