Indiana is now 18-16 and on the verge of its second consecutive postseason berth after missing the playoffs seven straight years.

Connecticut is in the midst of the worst season in club history following an offseason purge and a commitment to a massive rebuild. The Sun will miss out on the playoffs after reaching the postseason each of the past eight seasons.

Indiana is an 8.5-point favourite to win on the WNBA odds, with the total set at 165.5.

Indiana Fever vs. Connecticut Sun WNBA Odds and Betting Trends

Connecticut has won 15 of the past 17 meetings in this series, but Indiana has taken two of three this season. That includes a month ago, when the Fever won on the road, 85-77.

The Sun are 8-2-1 against the spread in their last 11 games against Indiana. Connecticut has covered three times as a double-digit underdog versus the Fever this year. It is also 5-1 straight up and 5-0-1 ATS in its last six home meetings with Indiana.

Indiana is 6-3 straight up and against the spread in its last nine games, and has posted an 8-8 record against the spread on the road. They have played to the under in five of six, while Connecticut has done the same in five of seven.

Indiana Fever

Last season’s WNBA Rookie of the Year, Caitlin Clark, has missed all but 13 games this season. The standout guard has suffered multiple injuries, and she last played a month ago in an 85-77 victory over the Sun.

Clark had 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists that game, but Kelsey Mitchell has overcome her absence all season. Mitchell (20 PPG) leads the Fever in scoring and has averaged 22.1 points in her last 10 games. However, the veteran guard is only averaging 16.7 points against Connecticut this season. Her tallies have improved with each outing, scoring 13, 17, and 20.

Connecticut Sun

Despite 26 losses in 32 games this season, Connecticut is 5-11 at home, with wins in three of its last five games at Mohegan Sun Arena. That includes a physical, 71-62 triumph over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday.

Leila Lacan had 17 points, Tina Charles added 15 points, and rookies Annesah Morrow (nine points and nine rebounds) and Saniya Rivers (eight points and six assists) continued to contribute as the Sun won after suffering defeats in four straight road games coming in.

WNBA Prediction: Who Will Win Fever vs. Sun?

Connecticut’s lone road victory this season came against Indiana. The Sun played comparatively well in the eight-point loss at home to the Fever last month. This is not a very good team, surely the worst in franchise history. However, they are finding a way to at least cover against Indiana this season.

The Fever need a win to stay in the mix in a packed playoff race. They haven’t won more than 20 games since 2012 and can get closer to passing that number with wins against the Mystics this evening and Connecticut on Sunday.

The Fever should pick up that victory over the weekend, and clinch the season series against the Sun, but look for Connecticut to cover again as an underdog in an 85-78 final.
