Barcelona vs. Chelsea Prediction, Champions League Odds

Two clubs known for their explosive offence, while currently exhibiting suspect defensive liabilities, meet in London on Tuesday in the fifth round of Champions League group play.

Two-time European champions Chelsea host five-time cup holders Barcelona at Stamford Bridge. Both clubs currently sit outside the top eight in the CL table, meaning they are not in a position to earn direct entry to the knockout rounds.

Both clubs also currently sit second domestically. Chelsea, which last won the Champions League title in 2021, is second in the English Premier League, six points behind leaders Arsenal, whom they face on Sunday. The Blues are currently sporting a five-match unbeaten streak, which includes a 2-2 draw in Baku against Azerbaijan side Qarabag in their last CL fixture.

Five-time cup winners Barcelona are just one point behind rival Real Madrid in La Liga. The Catalan side is unbeaten in four since dropping a 2-1 decision to Los Blancos in El Clásico last month.

Chelsea is a +130 favourite to win on the Champions League odds, while Barcelona is a +170 underdog. A draw is listed at +290.

Barcelona vs. Chelsea Odds and Betting Trends

Chelsea are 2-2 against the spread in Champions League play, but 2-0 ATS at Stamford Bridge. The Blues, who have scored nine and conceded six in four CL matches, have cashed the Over three times. Barcelona is 1-1 against the spread on the road, having played to the Over once in two contests away from home.

Ferran Torres, who has two Champions League goals, is +140 to score for Barcelona, while Lamine Yamal is +220. Ageless Polish international Robert Lewandowski, who has yet to score in the Champions League but is in form domestically, is +115 for La Blaugrana.

Joao Pedro, who leads the Blues with seven goal involvements in the Premier League and scored the winner in a 1-0 decision over Benfica in the second round of Champions League group play, is +200 to score for Chelsea.

Barcelona

The reigning La Liga champions, like Chelsea, have been inconsistent in European play this season. They have 12 goals, but have conceded seven with no clean sheets in four matches.

The club surrendered three goals in a draw with Belgian side Club Brugge last time out, with Carlos Forbs consistently beating La Flaugrana’s high line and scoring a brace. A 77th-minute own goal saved Barcelona from losing all three points in Belgium.

Hansi Flick’s side is still expected to be without Marcus Rashford, who leads the club with four Champions League goals. Gavi and Pedri are both out.

Chelsea

The Blues are surging domestically, shutting out all three Premier League foes this month. However, they struggled in their last UCL contest in Baku. Garnacho scored the equalizer in the 53rd minute, but the club sits in 12th, right behind Barcelona, thanks to goal differential. Enzo Maresca’s squad has just one clean sheet in four matches.

Wesley Fofana and Moises Caicedo are expected back in the lineup after sitting out the Blues’ 2-0 triumph over Burnley at Turf Moor over the weekend. Cole Palmer is still out with a toe injury.

Champions League Prediction: Who Will Win Barcelona vs. Chelsea?

With just one sheet combined in eight Champions League matches, don’t expect a scoreless draw at Stamford Bridge.

Look for Barcelona to come out fast and test the Blues’ defence. Expectations are for the LaLiga side to take all three points, but look for Chelsea to shock at home and exit with a point after a 2-2 result.
