Sevilla
Sevilla FC could be considered the worst defensive club in the Champions League’s Round of 16 because Sevilla allowed 12 goals in the six group stage matches. In La Liga and the Champions League, Sevilla has conceded 50 goals in 32 matches. It finished second in Group E to Liverpool with two wins, three draws and a loss with a goal differential of zero. Sevilla and Liverpool drew in both matches.
The club sits fifth in La Liga with a record of 12 wins, nine losses, three draws and a goal differential of minus-4. Wissam Ben Yedder leads Sevilla with 16 goals in all competitions, six in La Liga and six in the Champions League – no other player has more than one in this competition. Sevilla lost to Premier League side Leicester City in the Round of 16 last season and is looking for its first Champions League quarterfinal berth since 1958.
Man United fans will likely recognize one Sevilla player more than any other and that’s Jesus Navas. He played 183 games for Manchester City before returning to Sevilla last summer.
This is Sevilla’s first-ever meeting in a UEFA competition against Manchester United. Sevilla is tough to beat at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, losing just one of the past 35 matches there in all competitions.

Manchester United
The Red Devils have won the Champions League three times, last in 2008. It’s United’s 10th all-time Round of 16 tie and first since facing Olympiacos in 2013-14. Man U is 6-3 in this round. It has just two road wins in the Round of 16 with four draws and three losses.
Manchester United was impressive in group play, finishing with five wins and one loss along with a goal differential of plus-9 in taking Group A. The defeat was 1-0 at FC Basel 1893. That ended Man U’s seven-game unbeaten European away record.
United, sitting a distant second to Man City in the Premier League table, travel to Spain off a 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday in the FA Cup, the Red Devils’ 22nd clean sheet of the season overall.
Recent big-money transfer addition Alexis Sanchez (from Arsenal) will play in his first Champions League game for Manchester United. However, Paul Pogba is in question after missing the Huddersfield match due to illness.
United hasn’t had great success against Spanish sides of late, winning just two of the past 11 with four draws. The Red Devils have won five of their last 22 matches against La Liga foes. The most recent was a 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup in August. United coach Jose Mourinho won seven of his eight fixtures against Sevilla while coach of Real Madrid from 2010-13.
