Orland City SC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps MLS Preview and Prediction

There are just two games left in the MLS regular season as the playoffs shift closer. Only a couple of teams still need to clinch a spot in the MLS playoffs before decision day, but it’s not something Orlando City or the Whitecaps will need to worry about.

The Whitecaps sit in second in the Western Conference, but they have a game in hand over San Diego FC; a win against Orlando would push them into the No. 1 spot. The hosts sit seventh in the East and continue to vie for a top-four finish before the playoffs kick off.

Orlando City is a +110 favourite to win on the MLS odds, while the Whitecaps are +200 underdogs. A regulation draw is listed at +270.

Orland City SC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps MLS Odds and Betting Trends

The two cross-conference sides rarely meet, with a total of just five showings since 2015. Overall, just one draw has occurred, with the Whitecaps winning three matchups compared to a single 1-0 victory from Orlando City achieved in the most recent matchup.

Orlando City are your slight favourites on the three-way moneyline, coming in at +110. However, the mighty ‘Caps come in close at +200, with a draw priced at +270. While Vancouver has scored 10 goals in their last three matches, the Under 3.5 comes in at -175 with the Over 3.5 priced at +120.

Vancouver Whitecaps

The Canadian Championship victors defeated their Vancouver FC counterparts 4-2 to start October before coming back to the MLS to dismantle San Jose 4-1. Currently, the Blue-and-Whites are on a hot streak, undefeated in their last 10 games, and have only scored fewer than two goals on two separate 1-1 draw occasions.

The Whitecaps have plenty of firepower to rely on tomorrow, with 20-year-old Nelson Pierre marked as the team’s highest anytime goalscorer at +255, with seven-goal Emmanuel Sabbi marked at +275. Brian White’s play status may be tentative (16 goals this season), as he may be reserved for the playoffs, but Thomas Müller (+275 anytime scorer) can fill in with his two goals in his last two games.

Orlando City SC

Orlando is on an undefeated streak in their last four games, although three of those have been 1-1 draws, with their previous match against the Columbus Crew last weekend ending as such. The team hasn’t been shutout since May, and is likely to net at least 1+ goals tonight with their crucial home field advantage.

Midfielder Marin Ojeda has performed spectacularly this season, earning 16 goals and 14 assists, and has the shortest odds to score (+165). Marco Pasalic (12 goals and four assists) will be a huge miss for the teams, as he’s been called up to Croatia for international duty. Duncan McGuire and Luis Muriel (both +180 anytime goal scorers) will need to step up in Pasalic’s place to help their team hound the back of Vancouver’s net.

MLS Prediction: Who Will Win Orlando City SC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps?

Orlando does love a good home-field advantage, but missing some of their offensive talent could be an issue. Considering Vancouver’s consistency in their last eight games (24 goals scored), and their hunger for the top spot in the West, I expect them to come out on top 2-1 in this match at +210, which hits the Under 3.5 goals at -175.
