Iran vs. Morocco Odds and Betting Analysis
World Cup Moneyline odds: Morocco +114
Date: June 15, 11:00 AM ET
Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg, Russia
Iran played over 1100 minutes of clean sheet football in World Cup qualifiers before Syria snapped their 12-match shutout streak. The under (2.5 goals) is 8-1 in Team Melli’s last nine competitive fixtures. Morocco went 3-0-3 in World Cup qualifying matches and didn’t concede a single goal along the way.
The under is heavy chalk (-263) on a 2.5-goal line. Bettors might want to look at the under 2 (-164) or 1.5 (+126) goals on the Asian total for a better possible payout.
Morocco are the favourites (+114) even though this is their first appearance in the World Cup since France in 1998. Iran are +280 underdogs and are an improved squad from the one that scored one goal in three matches at Brazil in 2014.
Morocco
The Atlas Lions beat out World Cup regulars Ivory Coast for this spot in Russia and they bring with them some talented attacking midfielders. Morocco needs three points from this match for any hope of advancing to the knockout stages. Portugal are the European Champions and Spain are still world class even if their manager position is in disarray.
Iran
Manager Carlos Queiroz is conservative by nature, but many of the team’s top players are either forwards or attacking midfielders. Play close attention to Iran’s starting 11 before starting kickoff against Morocco. Iran could field a lineup with as many as four (Jahanbakhsh, Ansarifard, Rezaei and Azmoun) in their first 11 – which would drain much of the value in any under play on the total.
Morocco vs. Iran Prediction
Morocco 1, Iran 0
The Atlas Lions will take advantage of Iran missing defensive midfielder (Saeed Ezatolahi) and then they’ll sit on their one-goal lead until the final whistle.
