CF Montreal vs. Chicago Fire MLS Preview and Prediction
Another Eastern Conference brawl takes off this weekend between the Chicago Fire and CF Montreal, as both teams are in a better spot in the standings than before. With a win this Saturday, Chicago could push into the top three, while Montreal stealing three points could help them jump into ninth place based on other games’ results.
Get ready, because this Saturday is one you won’t want to miss, with the Saputo Stadium kickoff starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.
CF Montreal vs. Chicago Fire MLS Odds and Betting Trends
Since 2014, Montreal have won the majority of games in this series (13) compared to the Fire (11), although Chicago won the last two – including the most recent match on February 28. Eight of the last 11 matchups saw at least one side fail to score, including one scoreless draw in 2023.
The fourth-place Chicago Fire are the favourites on the MLS odds for this one at +130, with Montreal close behind at +175, knocked down by their goal differential. A draw is priced at +270, with under 3.5 goals highly expected at -205.
CF Montreal
Montreal are doing better than their 15th-place start to the season, but in the MLS with 30 teams competing, that can change in an instant. The Canadian side scraped out a 2-0 home victory over Orlando City on May 9 to earn their third shutout win of the season, followed by a 2-2 draw to the Timbers on Wednesday. The team has now scored in seven straight games in all competitions, a drastic improvement from their three scoreless games in their first six matchups.
Prince Owusu still hasn’t found his seventh goal of the season, but the team will heavily rely on him to find the back of the net at +125. Daniel Rios is starting to hit a stride, scoring two goals in his last two games, as he comes into this match as the team’s next highest likely anytime goalscorer at +175.
Chicago Fire
The Fire have noticeably improved compared to their 2025 season, with six overall wins and only one loss on the road out of five away matches so far. That said, since their unfortunate US Open Cup Round of 16 exit on April 25, May has been slightly harsh for Chicago – seeing the month kick off with two straight home losses while allowing three goals in both games. However, the side bounced back with an inspiring 3–1 victory on the road over DC United most recently. The Fire are offensive-oriented, tied for the third-highest goal count (23) in the division, as striker Hugo Cuypers usurps the top goalscoring spot in the MLS.
Cuypers is currently on an incredible run with 12 goals in nine matches, scoring six in his last five. He’ll look to extend his scoring streak to four straight games if he bags one Saturday anytime at +115. Philip Zinckernagel (four) will surely be looked upon to help his team at +165, along with forward Chris Mueller at +160, who has only three games under his belt so far.
MLS Prediction: Who Will Win CF Montreal vs. Chicago Fire?
There are two main things to consider here, the first being Montreal have only lost once at home, and the second being the Fire have only lost once on the road. The only tell here is that Chicago clearly have better attacking pressure, which will likely give Montreal’s defence (25 goals allowed) a runaround.
Given the Fire’s much better defence and goal differential of +8 versus Montreal’s at -7, bank on a Chicago Fire win on away ground – possibly 2-0 – which continues a common series trend of hitting “Both Teams to Score – No” at a +150 payout.
