World Cup Day 2 Betting Parlay Picks: Jonathan David Odds to Score for Canada
The opening day of the World Cup is officially in the books and now it’s time for the tournament’s final two co-hosts, Canada and the United States, to hit the pitch on Friday.
After fellow co-host Mexico opened their World Cup campaign with a dominant 2-0 victory on Thursday, the Canadians and Americans will look for similar success in their opening matches. Canada is first up on Friday as they get set to host Bosnia and Herzegovina in Group B action. The nightcap comes from Group D, with Team USA against Paraguay from the City of Angels.
Let’s get into both games with our best betting picks.

Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina – Group B
Location: Toronto Stadium
Time: 3 p.m. ET
How to watch in Canada: TSN, TSN+
Canada is a sizeable favourite as in this opening match as they look for their first World Cup points ever. It’s the third go-around for the Canadians, who went winless in 1986 and 2022. Bosnia’s only other World Cup appearance was in 2014 when they missed making the knockout round by one point.
Alphonso Davies is a massive loss for Canada in this match and they’ll likely also be missing Moise Bombito. However, this is the deepest roster Canada has ever fielded and they are more than capable of winning this game without Davies and possibly Bombito.
Like I said in the match preview, injury leads to opportunity. That’s what I see for Jonathan David in this spot with the attack flowing through the Juventus forward.
Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina betting pick: Jonathan David anytime goal (+150)
Parlay pick: Jonathan David anytime goal + Canada win

USA vs. Paraguay – Group D
Location: Los Angeles Stadium
Time: 9 p.m. ET
How to watch in Canada: TSN, TSN+
Team USA is a +150 favourite to win what should be a competitive Group D, while Paraguay isn’t out of the running at +350. The Americans made it as far as the quarterfinals in 2002 and the Round of 16 when they last hosted the tournament in 1994. Paraguay’s best result is also a quarterfinal berth, which they achieved when they last played in the World Cup in 2010.
There is significant pressure on the U.S. to perform in this tournament, but the results haven’t really been there for them in the lead up, with a win against Senegal and losses against Belgium, Portugal and Germany.
Christian Pulisic has to be the man for a U.S. squad that only narrowly defeated Paraguay 2-1 when the teams last met back in November. I think Pulisic will perform, but Paraguay is deep enough to keep this game level.
USA vs. Paraguay betting pick: Christian Pulisic 3+ shots (-110)
Parlay pick: Christian Pulisic 3+shots + draw (+500)
